FREE Bard’s Birthday Event at Agecroft Hall

Agecroft Hall House

This gorgeous 500 year old building is actually in Richmond city overlooking the James. Just more proof RVA is the coolest city ever.

It’s Shakespeare’s 450th Birthday!
(and I felt old on my last birthday)

Agecroft Hall, home to the Richmond Shakespeare Festival, will be hosting Shakespeare’s 450th Birthday Celebration on Saturday, April 26th to 10am -4pm. Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare will be partnering with Agecroft Hall on this world wide celebration of the Bard’s 450th birthday.

This celebration is the commencement of a year-long program entitled: The World of Shakespeare 1564 – 1616, in which Agecroft Hall will feature the environment, objects and culture of England during the life of the greatest writer in the history of the English language.

Professional actors will be performing monologues and scenes throughout the day, including Shakespeare himself! There will be costumed living history interpreters on the grounds who speak the dialect of the period. Experience a London street scene where you can SEE and SMELL what it was like in 1614!  Visit a working Still House where medicines and potions are being made. Participate in children’s games of the period. Renaissance dancing instruction will be offered. Search the grounds for the replica of Shakespeare’s tombstone.  Stroll the gardens which will be at the height of their bloom!
