Re-Growing Vegetables: A fun at Home Experiment

regrow 1

I was inspired recently by an article from  Wonder How To about how to re-grow vegetables.  It looked like a fun and easy experiment to do at home with my girls. You can eat your vegetable, save a part of it, and re-grow and then eat it again! The vegetables re-grow very fast so children can really see a change within a week.

Re-using vegetables to grow new ones has become a bit of an obsession at our home since our
first try with an onion (pictured on the left)

The steps are very easy but you can find a step by step guide here.

Other vegetables we have re-grown at out home are garlic:

celery:

and romaine lettuce( not pictured because that was a failure in our home) The onion and garlic need to be potted with soil while the celery and lettuce can be put into a small bowl with water.

There are several other examples for regrowing vegetables in the Wonder How To article such as garlic, carrots greens, mushrooms, and ginger that you might want to give a try.

Have you tried re-growing vegetables?
