Feeling Happy? That’s ‘Cause You’re in RVA

Obviously we’re the best place to celebrate the 4th of July… but as it turns out we’re also the happiest major city around!
(Maybe it’s because there is so much fun stuff to do)

The U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research just released a study called “Unhappy Cities” based on a large survey (in 2010) which asked people to share their satisfaction with life.

Turns out, Richmonders are pretty satisfied.

Richmond, Virginia tops the list of cities with a population over 1 million!

2. Norfolk-Virginia Beach-Newport News, VA

3. Washington, DC

4. Raleigh-Durham, NC

5. Atlanta, GA

At the bottom?

1. New York, NY

2. Pittsburgh, PA

3. Louisville, KY

4. Milwaukee, WI

5. Detroit, MI

A bummer for my New York City friends.

Well, we can’t disagree. But what do you think? What makes Richmond such a happy place? Tell us in the comments below or on Twitter with #LoveThisCityRVA
