Summer may be ice tea time for many, but for us, it’s definitely Sangria time! When the temp starts to go up, a nice refreshing glass of Sangria with good friends is hard to beat. It goes with anything, it’s a definite crowd pleaser and you just can’t help smiling when you take that first sip.
We decided to share two of our favorites so that you can add a bit of summer fun with friends after the kids head to bed.
Red Wine Sangria
1 Bottle of red wine
1 cup of Prosecco
1 to 1 1/2 cups of ruby red grapefruit juice
Juice of 2 limes or 1 lemon
Sugar to taste (around 1/4 cup)
Add fruit to your taste. We like strawberries, blueberries and orange slices. Lemon and lime slices can leave a bitter taste.
Peach Sangria
1 bottle of Prosecco
1/4 cup of Triple Sec
4 peaches sliced
1-2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 Tablespoons sugar
This is really nice if you layer the ingredients. Put the sliced peaches into the bottom of your pitcher along with the sugar and pour in the lemon juice and Triple Sec. Add ice and slowly pour in the Prosecco. Add sliced peaches to each glass, pour in your sangria and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, add some fresh ginger for a spicier version.
Enjoy your summer and make sure you give these a try! Let us know which you like best or even better yet, share your fave Sangria recipe with us and we’ll try em all and do an RVA Sangria Showdown.
