It Runs in the Family: Songs and Stories from Parenthood

Erin photoRichmond performing artist Erin Mahone will be host our second series of songs and stories from a life well lived on Thursday, July 23rd, 2015 at 7pm.

It Runs in the Family is part of Mahone’s work to build understanding within communities, through the arts and as an advocate for underserved populations.

Life is hard but it can be made a little easier with humor, love and support – and most importantly by coming out of the shadows and talking about it!

In addition to Erin’s songs and personal stories, this show will be joined by comics, musicians, poets and storytellers who are also parents; survivor parents, single parents, step-parents, hippie parents, grandparents, parents of kids with a disability, and more! They will tell the tales of woe, wonder, and sheer insanity that make parenthood life’s greatest adventure.

Parents of all stripes are invited to come together at The Urban Farmhouse in Midlothian for eating, drinking and merriment.

The proceeds from this event will go to support the United Athletics Medical Fund. United Athletics (www.unitedathleticsrva.org) recognizes the financial hardships faced by families whose loved ones have special needs due to extensive medical bills. Beginning in December 2014, United Athletics established a medical fund where the families can apply for assistance with their medical bills.
