We know that Richmond is an amazing place to live. Hands On Day provides a chance to give back to the community we all love so much.
On October 17th, over a thousand local volunteers (just like you) will come together to show their love of Richmond and help make Richmond even better.
Since the first HandsOn Day in 2008, annual volunteer participation in the event has more than doubled, also significantly increasing the value of service and donated goods. Last year, HandsOn Day brought Richmonders together to provide more than 4,810 volunteer hours at 65 different opportunities with nonprofits and community organizations—a $117,797 value of volunteer time invested in the community. With your help, HandsOn can make an even greater impact through this year’s day of service.
There will be plenty of opportunities to participate in the event regardless of your age or ability. Young kid are also encouraged to be a part of the action. Two great projects that kids can be involved in are the Chimborazo Friends Beautification project (minimum age, 1) and Pumpkin Carving with Residents (minimum age, 4). With over 65 different projects around the city there are plenty of ways that you and your family can help.
If you are unable to attend the one of the events, or can’t commit to the full morning there are also DIY opportunities and “drop in” projects. See the full list of volunteer opportunities here.
A family friendly celebration will be held at Hardywood from 1-3pm following the volunteer projects.
