Do you enjoy the adrenaline rush of extreme activities? How about rappelling down 400 feet in the heart of Richmond? Special Olympics Virginia partnered with Over the Edge, a Canada-based special events company, to hold Richmond’s tallest fundraising event on October 17th. Over the Edge invited fans of Special Olympics Virginia to rappel 400 feet from the top of the SunTrust Center in downtown Richmond. The event helped to raise funds for Special Olympics Virginia so that they can provide “year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, give them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.”
Richmondmom.com was honored to be a part of this event. Representing Richmondmom.com this year was brave Katie Abernathy! She rappelled down the SunTrust Center like a pro! Thank you to Special Olympics Virginia, Over the Edge, and all of the volunteers that helped to make this event possible.
