4th of July is just around the corner!  The Richmond area has tons of events to help you and your family celebrate Independence Day!  Whether you enjoy watching a parade or looking at the bright fireworks displays, Richmond has an event for you!

 

July 1st

July 4th Jubilee at Wintergreen Resort
4th of July Jubilee at Wintergreen Resort. July 1-4, 2016 – It’s a birthday party and we’re celebrating the red, white and blue! Busch Gardens celebrates our independence, July 2 – 4. This event inspires park-goers through fireworks and moving original soundscapes.  Admission to park is required.

Join us July 2-4 as we pay tribute to our brave military service men and women and celebrate our independence with an event for the whole family! Plus – all active and retired military personnel get FREE admission to the park!  Open 10:30am – 10pm for July 2-4.  Ticket is required.

Smith Mountain Lake Fireworks Display
The Saunders Volunteer Fire Company will present our annual Smith Mountain Lake Fireworks Display at Parkway Marina July 3rd, 2016. This spectacular fireworks presentation is preceded by a fun-filled day of activities including live music and food. And we’d like you to be part of it!  Since 1991, Parkway Marina has been the sight of one of the lake’s most anticipated events: A Spectacular Independence Day Fireworks Display! This event was once sponsored and staffed entirely by Parkway Marina in appreciation of customers, friends and neighbors.  Live Music By The Worx; Antique and Custom Car Show; Rides for the kids including The Parkway Marina Carousel; Moneta YMCA Kids Zone; Great Food and Beverages and Spectacular Fireworks!  The Worx goes on stage at 5:30 PM.  Fireworks launch at 10:00 PM.  There is no admission fee, Parking is $10 per car load*

July 4th

Chesterfield County July 4th Celebration
Celebrate our independence with a spectacular fireworks display at dark! This event, held at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (across from L.C. Bird High School), includes an activity area for children, food vendors and special entertainment. No alcohol, glass bottles, pets or personal fireworks are allowed. Blankets or lawn chairs are recommended. Limited parking, and the roads leading to fairgrounds will be closed at 8:30 p.m.  Event is from 5pm – 10pm.  Don’t miss this fun-filled event for all ages.  The event is free.

Colonial Heights Fireworks
The City of Colonial Heights will sponsor a fireworks display on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in the vicinity of Charles Dimmock Parkway in Colonial Heights.  Fireworks will start at approximately 9:15 pm. Viewing for the fireworks will be off Interstate 95, Exit 53 or 54 in the Southgate Square/Wal-Mart Area. Bring blankets and/or lawn chairs.  Rain Date: Sunday, July 5, 2015  For more information, please contact the Colonial Heights Recreation & Parks Department at (804) 520-9390.  The event is free.

Dogwood Dell Fourth of July Celebration
Celebrate the fourth of July with music and fireworks at Dogwood Dell. Enjoy a free family Fourth of July celebration at Dogwood Dell with Carillon bells and Richmond Concert Band. Come a bit early to get a seat within the Dell, bring the family and friends, and of course your picnic supper. The concert begins at 7:30pm, just after the Carillon concert.

Food, Fanfare & Fireworks at Colonial Williamsburg
Celebrate the Fourth of July with an evening of food, entertainment, and fireworks for the entire family. Children’s games/activities will take place on the Virginia Lawn starting at 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Cash Bar will be available at the Williamsburg Lodge, Virginia Room from 4:00 pm – 7:30 pm. “An American Original Buffet Dinner” will be served from 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm at The Williamsburg Lodge, Virginia Room. Dinner Entertainment will be provided by The Jangling Reinharts. Fifes & Drums will escort guests from the Lodge to reserved area of Palace Green at 7:45 pm. The evening will be concluded with Colonial Williamsburg’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks display. Prices include dinner, children’s games, special seating for programs, including fireworks on Palace Green, tax, and gratuity.  $85.95 adults, $50.95 children ages 3–10

Fourth at the Fort
Celebrate your independence at Fort Lee’s Fourth at the Fort, our annual Independence Day celebration, on Monday, July 4, at Williams Stadium. This event begins at 5 p.m. with music, food and the KidZone (inflatable rides and games for the kids). KidZone tickets and food are available for purchase. The high-energy band, “RNPP” will entertain before the 392d Army Band takes the stage to perform a rousing set of patriotic standards. A spectacular fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:35 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Smoking, personal pyrotechnics, glass and pets are prohibited in or around the event area. Coolers may be no larger than 6” x 6” x 12”. Those entering Fort Lee must present a driver’s license, vehicle registration & proof of insurance. Adult passengers must present a photo ID. Fourth of July Celebration at Colonial Williamsburg
Celebrate the anniversary of the nation’s birth in the Revolutionary City! Join Colonial Williamsburg for a special militia muster. Enjoy a salute to the 13 original states, featuring music performed by the Fifes and Drums, flags of each state, the firing of muskets and cannon. The day concludes with fireworks visible from both Market Square and Palace Green.  The event is from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Goochland County Fireworks
This July 4th, bring the whole family and enjoy a night under the stars with Goochland’s favorite event of the year. Park, Picnic, & Watch the fireworks. Admission is FREE! No tailgating and alcohol is prohibited! Visit www.co.goochland.va.us for parking information.  The event is from 9pm – 10pm.

Independence Day Celebration and Artillery Demonstration
Join us this weekend for living history programs and demonstrations by our costumed interpreters. See what life was really like for the common Civil War soldier, or explore life on an authentic 19th-century plantation.  On Monday, July 4th, join Pamplin Historical Park for our Independence Day tribute. See an artillery demonstration, color guard, and bugling demonstration.  Artillery demo starts at 1:00pm. All activities are free with Park admission.

Independence Day Reenactment
The event is FREE, with a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. In celebration of America’s birthday, the Declaration of Independence will be read.  11:00 a.m. Doors open, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.  11:15 a.m. Patriotic music begins.  11:30 a.m. Reenactment begins (no admittance after program begins or when church is at capacity.  Reserved seats may be purchased for $5 per person here at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2494521

Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden and CarMax are pleased to announce CarMax’s Free Fourth of July at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. On Monday, July 4, 2016, all visitors to the Garden receive free admission throughout the day (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.) The free admission includes the award-winning Nature Connects®: Art with LEGO® Bricks exhibit. Please note: Butterflies LIVE! will not be open on July 4. The exhibit is closed for repairs to the Conservatory’s North Wing as a result of the recent severe storm. Other areas in the Conservatory remain open.  “Visiting the Garden on July 4 has become a favorite Richmond tradition,” said Nan Goff, the Garden’s corporate and foundation relations director. “It’s a community celebration and we’re excited about CarMax’s leading role in the day’s festivities.”  “CarMax’s Free Fourth of July is a great way to enjoy time with family and friends at one of Richmond’s most beautiful locations, get moving and enjoy the outdoors,” said Leslie Parpart, CarMax Community Relations Manager. “We’re proud to call Richmond home and to join Lewis Ginter in this community event.”  Visitors on July 4 are invited to wear red, white and blue and decorate strollers and wagons for a parade in the Children’s Garden at 2 p.m. The Children’s Garden is also the location for a free concert by the Happy Lucky Combo from 1 – 4 p.m.  The non-profit Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden has a mission focused on education and a passion for connecting people and plants to improve our community. Old-fashioned Fourth of July Fun!  Join us for this yearly old-fashioned July 4th parade & celebration! Parade begins at 11:00AM followed by a patriotic concert with Hanover Concert Band, food, games, Patriotic Pet Contest, Apple Pie Contest winners and more!

Come Celebrate July 4th 2016 with us at Graves Mountain. Enjoy a fun filled evening with family and friends.  Picnic dinner will be available to purchase at our Sycamore Picnic Pavilion from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM ~ no reservations needed. The menu will include Hotdogs, Pork BBQ, Chicken Tenders, Ice Cream, Funnel Cakes and more.  A sit-down dinner will be served at the Lodge from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM ~ reservations required. Celebrate the 4th of July at Keswick Vineyards with some great Red & White Virginia wines and Bluegrass music performed by local band East of Afton! Red, White & Lights, A Fourth of July Celebration
A Henrico County 4th of July Celebration has taken place annually since 1981, but this year’s event will offer a later start time, expanded hours, and features new entertainment. The free event begins at 4:30 p.m. and will feature the Richmond Symphony, a laser light show, patriotic performances, and family activities. Food trucks will be onsite to provide an evening meal or snack while guests enjoy the evenings performances. Red, White, and Lights is sponsored by Henrico County and Genworth.
