The Latin Ballet of Virginia Arts in Education Summer Camp

LBV_Cover_CroppedCelebrating its 18th year, Latin Ballet of Virginia proudly provides art education camps in an exciting and unique format. Inspiring children’s self-expression for intellectual growth, Latin Ballet’s Arts in Education Summer Camp series is designed to boost self-confidence and enhance cultural interests in an environment that is fun, engaging, and always rewarding.

The Latin Ballet of Virginia strongly believes in the arts’ ability to inspire children – and their one-of-a-kind summer camp dance programs do just that. Through the Arts in Education camp series, students develop notable self-confidence, gain a sense of discipline, and learn the joy of sharing skills. Likewise, by the end of the camp, your child will discover a greater regard for dance and be able to connect dance forms to specific languages and cultures.

Unique Class Offerings

All camps include classes that explore various dance techniques including classical ballet, flamenco, Latin American and Spanish dances, contemporary dance, gymnastics, and hip-hop. In addition to dance technique, Latin Ballet of Virginia provides special opportunities for students to develop a deeper appreciation of dance as an art form with classes such as dance history, creative movement, drums and percussion, arts and crafts, and storytelling. To enrich students’ cultural understanding, each camp focuses on a cultural theme such as legends, myths, history, or literature in the Hispanic culture.

Professional Instruction

The Latin Ballet of Virginia’s program is taught by professional dancers and musicians who have years of performance and teaching experience to share with each student. As members of the Latin Ballet of Virginia company themselves, they are not only able to teach theory, but they offer personal experience, as well. Classes are held in professional dance studios and art rooms and each of the sessions culminates in a performance by the students, incorporating what they have learned throughout the camp.

Classes are divided by level of technique, dance experience, and age. The first day of classes is taken as an audition to place each group, allowing students to receive a targeted level of training in a peer group where they can feel comfortable and confident.
