Now that spring has sprung, we’re all looking forward to better weather, warmer days, and of course, Easter! While Easter falls a bit later than usual this year, there’s going to be plenty to do to keep your whole family busy between now and April 21! Whether you’re looking for Easter events for little ones, something to entertain the teens, or events for all the ages in between, there’s fun to be had for everyone this Easter season in Richmond.

Easter Eggs Volunteer Opportunity with HandOn RVA

Lend a helping hand to your community this Easter season by helping to provide supplies for the Peter Paul Development Center’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Peter Paul Development Center is a community outreach organization supporting families in Church Hill and neighboring East End communities. Volunteers are asked to fill plastic Easter eggs with goodies and provide Easter baskets that will be used for the event, and in turn, bring a little bit of Easter joy to underprivileged families in Richmond. Volunteer sign up is hosted by HandsOn Greater Richmond.

Ages: Any age with an adult, or 13+ (register as a volunteer here)
Cost: Cost of supplies (20-30 Easter Eggs, candy or toys to fill each egg, and one empty Easter basket that will be used to collect the eggs the day of the hunt.)

Spring Petting Farm at Short Pump Town Center

The Spring Petting Farm returns to Short Pump Town Center March 30 – April 7! See baby chicks, bunnies, lambs, goats and more on the lower level between Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn. A suggested $1 donation per person benefits the Maymont Foundation. The petting farm is open daily, weather permitting. The event is free for all ages, however, a $1 donation is suggested with all proceeds going to the Maymont Foundation.

Easter Cookie Classes with Sweet Bella Bakery

Get ready for some sweet and sparkly fun, no experience needed! Sweet Bella Bakery will be offering cooking Easter classes, including a youth class and two adult classes. Kids’ class is one and a half hours each with a fun “party time” kitchen space where kids can decorate three full sized cookies with an Easter theme to take home. Adult classes are three hours each and include:

Teen Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

Calling all teens! Grab your flashlights and get ready for some fun. Join your friends at Flora Hill Park in Colonial Heights for an after-dark egg hunt. Registration begins at 7:50pm and the hunt begins at 8:10pm. All participants must bring a basket/bag and a flashlight. Please no 9-volt flashlights.

Easter Bunny Brunch at Hanover Tavern

To celebrate the upcoming Easter holiday, Hanover Tavern will be hosting a special Easter Brunch with the Bunny. The brunch menu offers favorites like eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns, fresh fruit, marshmallow whoopie pies, and more. The event also features family-friendly Easter egg hunts and crafts.

Plus, be sure to reserve your spot for Easter Mini Photo Sessions on April 13 or 14. Sessions are available from 8am – 12pm and will be Easter styled and held inside. Dominion Family Easter at Maymont

Get ready for Richmond’s favorite annual Easter celebration! Dominion Family Easter at Maymont offers a full day of Easter-themed fun. Kids can take part in countless activities, including games, arts, and crafts, face painting, bonnet making, a “life-sized Candy Land,” inflatable slides and games, Nature Center exhibits and much more. Plus, families will enjoy local food vendors along with plenty of free fun, including live Entertainment performances by Jonathan Austin, Maymont Animal Educators, and SPARC; storytelling under the “Bunny Tree;” an Easter Bunny meet and greet; a bonnet parade;  local mascots; and so much more! The event is free, but tickets are required for some activities and can be purchased for $2 each. For each ticket you redeem, you will receive one Easter egg. Eggs may contain an “eggstra” prize. Cash, check, and credit card are accepted.

Peek-A-Bloom with Peter Rabbit at Lewis Ginter 

Join in on the fun at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden with Peek-A-Bloom! This special two-day event features all-day activities in the Children’s Garden, including pictures with Peter Rabbit from 1pm-4pm both days, as well as drawing with sidewalk chalk, hula hooping, and making garden hats out of materials such as bags and ribbons. Families can also borrow a basket from our Story Tree —  inside the basket is a book, a blanket to spread out on and an activity related to the book. Easter On Parade

Easter on Parade is one of Richmond’s most popular and beloved annual events. Join more than 25,000 participants to parade your Easter best up and down iconic Monument Avenue, which will be closed to traffic. Bring the whole family and spend the afternoon soaking in the scenery on one of Richmond’s most beautiful streets while enjoying music, arts, crafts, children’s activities, food, balloon artistry, a petting zoo, and of course, people and pet watching!
