While most dads are known for their corny “dad jokes,” questionable fashion sense, and inability to stop and ask for directions, dads are much more than that. They are also the place we can go for advice, the arms we can count on for a hug, and a never-ending source of love and support. So whether you want to celebrate your own father, the father of your kids, or another special man in your life, we want to help you make this Father’s Day one to remember.
We’ve found some special events throughout the Greater Richmond area that will help you make sure the dads in your life know just how much they mean this Father’s Day. Take a look at our list, and of course, if you simply want to find a special spot for brunch, check out some of our Best Brunch Spots for Families in Richmond or our Richmond Brunch Guide with nearly 20 of our favorite brunch hot spots!

2019 Father’s Day 5K & 10K – Virtual Race
Get moving with the sixth annual Father’s Day 5K & 10K virtual race! Simply register with the race host, Moon Joggers, and for $20, you’ll receive a medal and running bib. Then choose your course and pick a time to run. You will report your time back to Moon Joggers and they will be donating at least 15% of each registration to Team Hoyt, which works to build the individual character, confidence and self-esteem of America’s disabled and physically challenged young people through inclusion in all facets of daily life.
In the spring of 1977, Rick Hoyt, who was confined to a wheelchair, told his father, Dick Hoyt, that he wanted to participate in a five-mile benefit run for a lacrosse player who had been paralyzed in an accident. Far from being a long-distance runner, Dick agreed to push Rick in his wheelchair and they finished all 5 miles, coming in next to last. That night, Rick told his father, “Dad, when I’m running, it feels like I’m not handicapped.” Celebrate heroes like the Hoyts and YOUR DAD with this special run.
