But for fun that combines the excitement of an amusement park with the refreshing enjoyment of water play, today, we’re bringing you a water park guide for the entire state of Virginia.

While many of these fantastically fun water park locations are in other parts of the state, a number of them are right here in the Greater Richmond area, offering easily accessible fun all summer long. From splash pads and spray areas for small swimmers to giant, fast-moving slides for your more adventurous family members, these water park spots provide a full day of excitement for the whole family.

Description: This popular Richmond area water park is a local favorite for a reason. Open all summer long, Cobblestones Park is located Glen Allen just west of the city in Henrico County. Not only do they offer Splash Zone, featuring one of the largest concrete swimming pools in Virginia, they also provide expansive beach areas, complete with gigantic 20-foot umbrellas and picnic tables. With all the fun and amenities of a day at the beach (without the drive!), plus exciting slides, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and fishing in their one-acre lake, Cobblestone is a must-do summer activity for Richmond families.

Description: This modern, handicap-accessible water park offers slides, fountains, and an eight-lane lap pool. Other family-friendly features walk-in access to the water, heated pools, a 38-foot long water slide, spray toys and “water drops, water basketball, shaded swimming and sitting areas in the shallow end of the pool, a frog and boat slide for little ones, a bathhouse, deck furniture and umbrellas, concessions, and picnic shelters. Description: Pocahontas State Park is located just 20 miles outside of Richmond in Chesterfield County. This beautiful state park offers boating, picnicking, camping, camping cabins, and 64+ miles of trails, as well as year-round nature and history programs. But for summer, the aquatic center is a true gem. More like a mini-water park, the aquatic center offers a toddler pool, three-foot and five-foot-deep leisure pools, an activity pool complete with climbing equipment, and two tubular water slides. However, in addition to the pools, the aquatics area offers a “wet deck” with fountains and spray features that kids will absolutely love. For little ones who don’t quite pool ready, the wet deck is perfect for cooling down in a safe, kid-friendly environment.

Description: Located just next to Busch Gardens amusement park in Williamsburg, Water Country USA offers the same thrills and chills as your favorite BG roller coasters, but with the added fun of water. At this spacious water park, you’ll enjoy drenching rides, slides, pool, and fun. As the largest water park in the Mid-Atlantic, Water Country USA is a place where kids can experience exhilarating rides while remaining completely safe. The Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole offers more than an acre of slides, flumes, sprays, showers, floatables, and an interactive water playground.
