This weekend (July 19-21), children, families, and businesses throughout Central Virginia will help local kids with cancer at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR) by setting up Anthem LemonAid stands.
Close to 800 stands will be set up throughout the community, but for nine-year-old Madison, who was diagnosed last year with germinoma, a rare form of cancer most commonly found in the brain, setting up an Anthem LemonAid stand has special meaning.
CHoR patient, Madison, along with her family, will host an Anthem LemonAid stand
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 19
Walmart Supercenter (corner of Glenside Drive and Forest Avenue), 6920 Forest Avenue, Richmond, VA 23230
CHoR patient, Madison Martin, 9, will host a stand with her family. Madison was diagnosed last summer with germinoma, a rare form of cancer most commonly found in the brain. She received her treatments at CHoR and in April received the long-awaited news from doctors that she is “cancer free.” Read Madison’s full story.
Madison relies on Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU for her medical care. AnthemLemonAid is an easy and fun way she and her family can give back and support the hospital that has helped her.
*Madison will be available for photos and interviews.
Registration for Anthem LemonAid will close Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. so there is still time to sign up! Stands will be active July 19-21, and can be found at area Kroger, Walmart, Sweet Frog and Chick Fil-A locations as well as businesses, childcare centers, and neighborhoods. In addition to the stands located throughout the community, donations can be made online by clicking here.
Along with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, other event sponsors include The Goddard School, Virginia Credit Union, RVA Primrose Schools, Call Federal Credit Union, Express Employment Professionals, CBS 6, Richmond Family Magazine, Richmond Mom, Walmart, Kroger, Sweet Frog and Chick Fil-A. Great gratitude goes out to these partners who contribute to the success of Anthem LemonAid year after year.
