Now that fall is finally here, it’s time for one of our favorite fall traditions – pumpkin picking! Not only is pumpkin picking a great way to get outside and enjoy the beauty of fall here in Virginia, but time in the pumpkin patch is family time, as well. And thanks to the abundance of pumpkin patch options in and around Richmond, you’ll have no trouble finding pumpkins to carve, to decorate with or, if you’re really ambitious, to make your own pies.
Many of our local farms and pumpkin patches offer pick-your-own pumpkins, as well as seasonal gourds and pre-picked pumpkins for sale. But even better than just pumpkins, many of these spots offer a wide array of activities, games, and adventures for all ages. From hayrides to haunted houses to corn mazes, you’ll often find that a trip to the pumpkin patch can easily turn into a day of outdoor fun and fall memories for the whole family.
To help you plan your fall pumpkin picking expedition, we’ve taken a look at some of the best pumpkin patches and farms here in the Richmond area. But, if you don’t mind a little travel, we’ve also found a large selection of farms just outside of Richmond. So take a look at our list and try some out!
Be sure to check out these farms and pumpkin patches in the Richmond area and beyond for pumpkins, gourds and all things fall – and in the meantime, we’d love to hear about your experience at any of these great farms. Or if you have a spot that we may have left off the list, be sure to let us know! Drop us a line at [email protected].
