We all know that kids say the darnedest things, so it’s no surprise that when it comes to the Thanksgiving holiday, they’ve got plenty of funny thoughts on the subject. To prove the point, the Washington Post decided to hit the streets and find out what, exactly, the average American kid knows about the ins and outs of the Thanksgiving holiday.
To get their answers, they set up a kids’ table at the Reflecting Pool in downtown Washington, DC and talked to kids passing by about Thanksgiving – from traditions to how-to-instructions for cooking a turkey. And we’ll go ahead and give you a spoiler alert – the results are about as funny as you’re imagining! Suffice it to say, you may want to make sure your kids have a few facts straight about the Thanksgiving holiday before you send them out on their own.
To be fair, there are a few of these questions that I wouldn’t have gotten right either – although I do like to think I might have gotten a little closer to the right answer when asked how long to cook a turkey. At any rate, you’ve got to give it to these kids for being good sports. I guess it just goes to show that we’ve all got something to learn!
Enjoy a laugh to wrap up your weekend, be sure to cook your turkey longer than four minutes – and most of all, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
