While the holidays are supposed to be a time of cheer and happiness all around, the truth of the matter is that the holidays are actually pretty stressful. The roads are crowded, the shopping malls are hectic, and we’re all a little low on sleep, cash, and patience. It’s no wonder many of us choose to do our shopping online. Not only can we avoid the crowds, but our items are delivered right to our door. I mean, it doesn’t get much better than that….unless, of course, you’re a delivery driver.
Naturally, as more and more of us turn to online shopping, the holiday season becomes a month-long marathon of non-stop action for delivery drivers. From dawn to dark, they are out there making sure that all of those last-minute gifts that we forgot to order back in November make it to our homes safely and securely in time for Christmas morning. Suffice it to say, these guys work hard.
As a way of saying thank you to these hard-working holiday heroes, Kathy Ouma of Middletown, Delaware, collected a basket of snacks, water, and other goodies earlier this month, and left it on her porch with a note to her various delivery drivers reading, “Please take some goodies to enjoy on your route. Thank you for making holiday shopping easy.” Well, for one delivery driver in particular, Kathy’s small act of kindness made his day.
Fortunately, Kathy caught her delivery driver’s response on her security camera and chose to share it online as a way of spreading some holiday cheer. It went viral in a matter of days and it’s easy to see why. Kathy’s video shows how even simple acts can bring incredible joy to others – and spreading love and joy? Well, that’s what the holidays are REALLY about after all.
Enjoy this heartwarming video and don’t forget to spread your own holiday kindness this week. And in the meantime, from our Richmond Mom family to yours, happy holidays!
