Equivocation

September 26 – October 19, 2014

By Bill Cain

Directed by Jan Powell

show_equivocation va repIt is 1606, and Shakespeare has been commanded to write a propaganda play about the Gunpowder Plot, in service to King James. Will he agree to be a pawn in the cynical gamesmanship of the king’s spymaster, or will he equivocate—lie by telling the truth? The playwright, his acting company, and a variety of historical figures clash in this high-stakes political thriller about the complexities of the truth and the terrible consequences of compromise.

“One of the most bracingly intelligent, sizzlingly theatrical American plays in a decade.” Variety

Suggested for ages 16 and up. Adult language, brief nudity, some violence.

Equivocation is a co-production with Henley Street Theatre and Richmond Shakespeare

ComedySportz is pleased to offer 2014 Youth Summer Camps program – an intensive version of popular classes. Years of teaching and performing make each camp an experience our students never forget. Improv training fosters creativity, teamwork, confidence and poise both on and off the stage.

Summer Camps are a great way to learn about improv and the stage in a fun and supportive environment.

All 2014 ComedySportz Summer Camps meet at the ComedySportz Improv Theatre

What is it?

ComedySportz® Improv Camp for Kids is an amazing half-day camp. After 17 years of performing our improvisation show that is great for all ages, we have found that the life lessons of improvisation are perfect lessons for children. Each class program is one week long and offers a graduation performance by the students.

What are the basics?

  • Through Lessons Of Laughter®, students are taught so much more than learning how to act silly.
  • ComedySportz® teaches kids how to accept, connect, commit, communicate, trust, play as a team, how to share focus, bounce back from mistakes, and how to be a leader.
  • While learning these life lesson skills the students are also meeting new friends, and grow in confidence.
  • Each program is taught by a certified ComedySportz® Instructor.

It’s no wonder why ComedySportz was voted one of Richmond’s Best Comedy Theatre and Best Camps for Children by Style Weekly.
