This week is filled with family fun right on into the weekend. It’s Leap Year so there’s an extra day in February. Lights Up! is part of the Central Virginia kick-off for MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrating Children and the Arts. Minds Wide Open is a statewide collaboration of artists, art organizations, museums, and libraries to present thousands of performances, exhibitions, festivals, film screenings, and readings by, for, or about children and the arts. The fun starts when the Richmond Symphony presents its LolliPops concert featuring Benjamin Britten’s A Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.

The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra – Saturday, March 3, 2012 – 11AM Become acquainted with all of the instruments in the symphony.  Each variation features a different instrument – what a fun way to learn about the symphony! LolliPop Series at Richmond Symphony – The Richmond Symphony is offering children and parents another incredible opportunity to experience the beauty of concerts in a comfortable environment. It is all part of the Union First Market Bank LolliPops series and it’s scheduled for Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The pre-concert festival begins at 10:00 a.m. with lots of fun for children.
