Shannon Milligan: Richmond Mom with Little Twins & Big Dreams

Shannon with husband John and twin kiddos.

I first met Shannon Milligan on  Twitter over a year ago, and finally in person two weeks ago. Her “real life” personality didn’t disappoint.  As a mom of five-year old twins I wondered how Shannon found the time to tweet at all given her growing business and activism in Richmond’s community, but somehow she makes it all happen.

Her backstory: As a Realtor with Keller Williams, Shannon first earned her degree in Communication & Public Relations before working in the back office of a real estate company as a marketing associate. But due to her husband’s job, she experienced relocation “more times than she cares to recall. “ Shannon took a few years off to raise her kids, then obtained her real estate license and joined the Multi-Million Dollar Top Producing team of Ask Gina & Company with Keller Williams Realty Loudoun Gateway in Northern Virginia. In late 2010, she moved to Richmond and achieved her dream of Home Sweet Henrico with Keller Williams Realty Richmond West.

The Milligans have been on the move: Shannon and her husband John bought or sold a total of 9 times over a 10 year time period (just typing this makes me tired.) ”Each time, with the exception of one fabulous Realtor by our side, I felt as though I was just signing papers without really understanding what I was signing,” says Shannon. ”I just felt like real estate could be done better. I wanted more of a personal service aspect in my Realtor and one that I could count on not only during the exciting and complicated real estate process, but also AFTER the transaction was completed. I wanted my Realtor to be there for life, not just the few months it took to get from contract to close.”

Hanging her own shingle: So how has she built her success as a recent transplant to Richmond? “I simply treat each client like I were buying my own home and understand that success is in the details. Although Home Sweet Henrico is only in its second year here in Richmond, my business is building and I believe I am gaining a reputation of being thorough – something that I am very proud of!”

Although she focuses in Henrico, Shannon’s all over the map: She serves Henrico County, Richmond, Hanover County, Chesterfield County, Goochland County, in-between serving meals to her active little twins. She’s a dog lover/mama to two lovable dogs (Bella and Jake) and one cranky cat (Buddy). When not working, Shannon enjoys reading, shopping, college football (she’s a fellow Penn State fan, Go Lions!), and exploring all that Richmond has to offer. She also blogs about Richmond Realty and shares her expertise with the community.

Shannon's hubs John the the twins keep her busy, but she still finds time to rock Richmond realty.

Shannon’s no slouch in the community, either: To top it all off, we love that she’s served as Social Committee Chair for The Ridge at Hunton Park 2011-2012, and as Glen Allen Elementary School Fundraising Co-Chair, 2012- present. We’re glad Shannon’s in RVA!

Shannon can be reached on her website, HomeSweetHenrico.com and at Keller Williams Realty Richmond West, 6600 W. Broad St, St. 150, Richmond, VA 23230. Shannon’s profile is also on LinkedIn and you can often find her commenting in our Richmondmom.com Junkies Facebook group as an active Richmond mom. Shannon is an advertiser of this site.
