Who says summer is boring? Not when you’re at Tuckaway Child Development Centers for sure!
This summer, the kids at Tuckaway engaged in creating their own movies. It was a summer-long project at each of their schools to engage kids in fun and also learning about video creation and working together.
The summer camp theme was ‘Lights, Camera, Action‘ where each school spent the summer creating a video. Each school’s students decided their video’s subject, wrote the script and designed/created sets and costumes. With the help of the staff who directed the video taping, and edited them to their final product, the students created some great videos. They learned a lot but most of all, they had FUN! What better way to spend the summer?

E3 – Eagle Extreme Excursions
Eagle Extreme Excursions (E3) challenge children’s sense of exploration and physical skills. With small groups of about 20 children and 2 counselors, there is plenty of attention for each child too. Groups stay together for the entire program which helps encourage development of relationships and social skills.
You do NOT have to be enrolled at Tuckaway to attend and you can pick and choose the dates that work best for you. Children must have finished 3rd grade to participate. Here’s a list of the exciting excursions planned for the summer:

Maymont Summer Discovery Camps No registration deadline (we accept registrations until camp is full) Registration begins Feb. 7 for Maymont members, Feb. 21st for non-members. Maymont’s wildly popular summer camps offer outdoor adventures, animal encounters, games, crafts and hands-on activities for young nature explorers ages 4 to 14. Plus we have a special volunteer program for teens ages 15 to 18 to help our young campers while gaining great experience in the environmental science field.

Visual Arts Center of Richmond Summer ArtVenture Camp: Week-long studio art classes in a positive, nurturing learning environment. Each class provides focused attention on a specific media, skill or subject, and each week brings a selection of unique choices. All classes are taught by a professional artist and artists-educators who will help inspire and develop individual expression. Morning studio classes (9:00am – 12:00pm) and afternoon studio classes (1:00 – 4:00pm) classes are available for all age groups. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per class to allow for individual instruction and learning. Some classes integrate teamwork or collaborative projects.
