Today, March 8, 2011 is International Women’s Day and it’s the perfect time to celebrate women!
International Women’s Day marks the economic, political and social achievements of women. 2011 is the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day and in 1977, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming a United National Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. Events around the world celebrate women and their accomplishments and contributions to the world on this day.
The day is a time for women to see how far they have come in their struggle for equality, peace and development. It’s all about creating meaningful change by banning together as women to demonstrate how powerful and important women are to our society and our world.
Women are chief executive officers, leaders, nurses, doctors, administrative assistants, call center agents, stay-at-home moms, working moms, single moms, single women, engineers, scientists, housekeepers, leaders, grandmothers, teachers, pharmacists, store clerks — and they hold thousands of other positions across the country and the world.
No matter what they choose to do in life, they make a difference in the lives of their families, friends and others around them.
Celebrate International Women’s Day today by letting a woman know how much she means to you and what a difference she makes in the world.
Thank you to all of the women in the world!
