Brain Balance is an incredible resource for our Richmond community and we are so excited to welcome them. Be sure and stop by for a visit to see all that they offer. The article below provides more information about their services.
Richmondmom.com welcomes the Brain Balance Center to our community. The Brain Balance Center grand opening and open house is scheduled for January 23 and 24, 2012 at their new location in the Shoppes at Westchester. Marion Martin is the Director of the newest Brain Balance Center in Richmond.
“We are very excited about this new location. It is the only Brain Balance Center in Virginia and will serve not only Virginians, but people from eastern North Carolina, and the Washington, D.C. metro area. We already have families coming from as far away as 3 hours to take advantage of our services in our new Midlothian location,” explains Bart Levy, a spokesperson for Brain Balance.
The grand opening ceremony and open house weekend will be filled with valuable resources, including Dr. Robert Melillo, founder of the program who will be presenting and talking with parents. He will also take time for a book signing. Dr. Melillo is an internationally known lecturer, author, educator, researcher and clinician in the areas of neurology, rehabilitation, neuropsychology and neurobehavioral disorders in children. He’s also an expert in nutrition with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
In addition, Dr. Mark Smith, who is the force behind the Richmond center, will speak briefly and will be at the open house to talk with parents. Marion Martin, the Center Director, will also be available also to talk to parents and welcome them to the Center.
More About Brain Balance
“We focus on the whole child which encompasses cognitive, nutritional, and exercise components of growth and development,” Bart clarifies.
Brain Balance Centers focus on children from ages 4 to 18 with specialized learning centers integrating cognitive, sensory-motor, and nutritional training for a drug-free, whole child approach. This approach addresses the underlying issues in many behavioral, developmental and learning disorders that plague so many children today.
“The Academy of Pediatrics now says that it is okay to give drugs to kids as young as 3 years of age. At Brain Balance, we know that there is a huge and positive alternative to medicating a child at any age with various types of behavioral disorders. That’s why we offer this valuable alternative. Our staff includes a variety of professionals including behavioral specialists, nutritionists, and teachers with a background in special education and child psychology,” explains Marion.
Although they are still working on their local website, they do have an active Facebook page, so be sure to “like” them to keep up with happenings at the Richmond location. Plan to attend the January 23 and 24, 2012 open house at the Shoppes at Westchester and see all that they have to offer.
We welcome Brain Balance Center to Richmond and look forward to learning more about their great services.
