Hot Stove Banquet with Flying Squirrels – The Flying Squirrels will hold their 2nd Annual Hot Stove Banquet on Wednesday, February 1st, 2012, at Verizon Wireless Arena at the VCU Stuart C. Siegel Center. Baseball legend Bill Buckner will serve as the featured guest for the event, which will begin with a cocktail reception/autograph session at 6 PM. Other celebrities include Billy Wagner, local legend Johnny Grubb, 2012 Squirrels’ Manager Dave Machemer and Pitching Coach Ross Grimsley, and 2011 Squirrels members Daryl Maday and Johnny Monell. Tickets are $75 for Squirrels Season Ticket and Mini-Plan holders and $100 for individuals.

Ringling Brothers Ambassador of Laughter, Christopher the Clown, will visit the Children’s Museum of Richmond (CMoR) in Short Pump on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 9:30 am for a special story time event. Christopher is here to spread the word that Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® Presents DRAGONS is coming to the Richmond Coliseum 2/15-2/19/2012. In addition to the story time, he will visit with the children and have giveaway and coupons for the show. Families can also meet “Christopher the Clown” at CBS 6′s Healthy Lifestyle Expo on Saturday, 2/4 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm.
Black History Month Celebration. 10 am-4 pm at the Children’s Museum – Central location only. This celebration of African-American history takes place through performances by storytellers, musicians and dance troupes. Art projects throughout the month will reflect African-American culture and history. At 1:00 pm, World Beat Workshop – Take part in interactive performances by The World Beat Workshop’s Robert Josepé. We will celebrate with the tastes, sights and sounds of this colorful holiday – when families of Asian descent enjoy family reunions and special meals – to bring health, wealth and happiness in the New Year.
