After all of the training and spending hours in the cold weather and rain, it’s finally here – the Monument 10k is this coming weekend and we have lots of Richmond moms participating. Preparing for the 10k takes time, effort, and determination — and Richmondmom.com salutes everyone who is taking part in this fantastic race.
The Mother Runners have trained faithfully with Mom’s Treehouse, while others have trained with other organizations, with personal trainers, or even on their own.
The event boasts plenty of encouragement and entertainment for participants and supporters. Music is provided by Between the Covers, The Luckies, SolPocket, The Stray Dog Band, Nat King Kong, Deep Fried Mojo, Salted Dawg Blues and many more. Silly Bus will be at the Kids Fun Run start line.
The Virginia 529 Kids Run is a one-mile event for kids ages 5-12 that features all of the excitement of the 10k. They’ll kick off the morning by warming up with music and mingling with some local mascots until the start gun goes off. After racing their little hearts out, they’ll finish to the roar of a crowd through the same chute as the 10k-ers, where they’ll get a commemorative medal and head into a secure meeting area. Don’t forget to pick them up, because post-race food and festivities await. You have plenty of time to cheer them on before starting your own race.
Get ready to run and/or cheer on those who are participating in the Monument 10k this weekend, Saturday, March 31 starting at 8:00 a.m with the Kids Run and then 8:30 a.m. for the race.
Congratulations to all Richmond moms who are participating in the race and good luck!
