Attendees will hear from both public and private school representatives discussing the process of selecting the right Kindergarten and will have an opportunity to ask questions of parenting and school experts as they consider Kindergarten options.
The forum will be moderated by Liz Pearce, the children’s museum’s Director of Parent Engagement, and include Dr. Cheryl Thomas, Director of Elementary Education, Henrico County Public Schools and Amanda Surgner, Vice President of Advancement and Director of Admission for Collegiate School. The focused discussion will include the following topics:
- Making intentional choices about a school or program
- The process of choosing a school
- The role of parents and families around kindergarten readiness
- Factors to consider for school placement
“We hear frequently from parents searching for help matching Central Virginia’s educational options with their individual child’s needs,” said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO of the Children’s Museum of Richmond. “So we are thrilled to partner with both the Collegiate School and Henrico County Public Schools to offer a conversation that will allow parents of preschoolers to hear directly from area experts about one of the most important decisions families make.”
