Peace, Love, and Parenthood

Christa, Brian, Lira and Luca
We know everyone’s wondering who these newbies are and what it means for Richmondmom.com.  So, we thought we’d take a minute to introduce our little family of 4.  Here we are in a nutshell-

Brian: He’s pretty crazy. He’s lived all over the world, spent more than his share of time sleeping under the stars on a mountain above 14,000 ft and risking life and limb kayaking raging whitewater. He can build furniture, weld steel and knows his way around a kitchen – mmmmm Dad’s cooking! Loves to reinvent himself every few years: one year looking like Grizzly Adams complete with massive beard, then shaving everything off – except eyebrows of course. That’s all fine and dandy, but where he really shines, is as a father and husband. I am continually amazed and impressed with him and he’s my best favorite thing.

Christa: Well, she’s the love of my life no questions asked, and after 13 years together – 6 hitched with two kids in tow – I couldn’t be happier! Originally from Saint Louis, she came to Richmond to go to school, and although she has left for short durations (Peace Corps, chasing .com millions in DC, and buying a horribly broken business in WI, with this guy who’s just about as crazy as she is) she always seems to return to RVA. We’ve traveled around the world together – a passion we definitely want to pass on to our kids – we’ve been deemed out of our minds on more than a few occasions and through all life has thrown our way, having a happy family is hands-down, the most important and rewarding experience of them all! Let the adventure continue…

Lira: My favorite color is purple. I really enjoy observing, but once I get going, good luck putting an end to my excessive energy and chatter! I’m nice to my brother most days, but it’s so fun to antagonize him – yes, I know that word – even though it gets me in trouble. Don’t get me wrong, I really am generous and loads of fun. Right now I’m learning how to be a gracious winner/ loser – “man, this is so hard!!”. I turned 4 at the end of February and I love my family.

Luca: I’m all boy and I make sure everyone knows it…unless of course I happen to be wearing my sister’s hand-me-down purple sneaks, jeans with a flowered waist or anything else I get from her that goes so well with my super cool hair clips. Come to think of it, I got those from her, too. My current favorite things are: hugs, kisses and doling out elbows to the faces of innocent bystanders. They say I’ll grow out of all three, but the last one’s definitely a keeper. I love to test out my new moves on ‘sister’, although Dad’s ‘soft bits’ are certainly not off limits. I turned 2 in early February and I love my family.

If there is anything that can be said about our family, it’s this:  Life is NEVER boring!  We all love Richmond and the fabulous community here on Richmondmom.com.  Looking forward to meeting everyone face-to-face at all of the events going on in the next few months!  Please stop by and say hello at Imagination Richmond on May 18th or any of the Wine Down Wednesday events this summer.  We’re so excited about this next crazy adventure!

Christa Donohue

Christa loves traveling, rolling down grassy hillsides, almost any new challenge, and of course her sweet little family. She has 2 kids, 2 businesses and more email addresses than she can reasonably manage. She's been called 'crazy' on more than one occasion and doesn't even try to deny that it's true.
