Are you ready?
It’s time for pumpkin flavored everything.
Normally, I’m ready for fall in mid-August. I have one annual trip I take with friends and once I get back from it I’m ready.
This year… not so much. Our youngest was born on the very first day of summer vacation (really, my water broke on the last day of school). So my husband (a teacher), the boys (now four of them) and I (on maternity leave) were all home together for three months and it’s made the summer pretty magical… and I’m not ready to let go.
But all summers must come to an end, and honestly, there is a lot to love about fall. The fresh start, the cool weather, the fashion, and of course, the pumpkins…
So maybe this box of Pumpkin flavored goodies landed on my doorstep at just the right time.
MARTIN’S pumpkin inspired foods are back in September by popular demand. MARTIN’S really did a great job creating products that show off the versatility of this fabulous gourd. You’ll find everything from sweet treats to savory chips.
I served up some pancakes for the boys and topped them off with MARTIN’S Pumpkin Syrup. I’m an old-fashioned maple syrup girl but I can’t lie… this stuff was good.
I added a touch of real pumpkin and some pumpkin pie spice to a couple pats of butter and made some yummy herbed butter for the pancakes. I figure if you’re gonna do it, you might as well go all in.
Fall is also the time for gatherings with friends and fall families. I may have found a new staple snack for any time we have friends and family over.
Pop MARTIN’S Heat & Eat Pecans in the microwave for 30 – 60 seconds and they come out tasting fresh roasted, sweet and perfectly pumpkin spiced… I’m also thinking these would make a great topping crushed up on top of pumpkin bread or in pumpkin muffins. They are seriously sweet though, so a few go a long way and they’d be great mixed with plain pecans to double the amount and spread out the sweetness.
OOH! or a fall themed trail mix… Okay. I’m going to stop with these. Pick them up though, they’re like candy.
Included was also the return of their Pumpkin Pasta Sauce. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this but it was delicious. Just the right amount of pumpkin flavor and perfectly savory. For the taste test I served it up with just enough to coat penne pasta and a little bit of chicken. But I think for dinner tonight I’ll, use the pumpkin pasta sauce instead of tomato sauce in a vegetarian lasagna with baby portobello mushrooms, sliced zucchini, ricotta and mozzarella cheese to celebrate September*.
There are about 50 different pumpkin inspired products hitting MARTIN’S/GIANT shelves this month for a limited time (so stock up on your favorites).
Next on my list to taste: Pumpkin Seed Tortilla Chips, Pumpkin Hummus, Pumpkin Alfredo Sauce and pumpkin bisque… Alright, maybe fall isn’t all bad…
