It’s no doubt that the characters in the hundred acre wood were real to Christopher Robin, but how does a toy become “real”? These are lessons from the beloved story The Velveteen Rabbit.
Virginia Rep’s Children’s Theatre is bringing Margery Williams classic novel, The Velveteen Rabbit to their stage at Willow Lawn.
The talented cast will be joined by 12 year old Hart Isaacoff who is making his debut on the Virginia Rep stage in the role of Boy. The Velveteen Rabbit tells the story of the unconditional bond between a boy and his toy bunny and the meaning of becoming “real”. The show lasts for one hour and is best enjoyed by children ages 3 and up.
I remember reading The Velveteen Rabbit over as a kid and wondering what my toys were saying to each other when I left the room. I can’t wait to see what magic Virginia Rep does with this wonderful story.
Families will be able to meet several cast members from The Velveteen Rabbit and Snow Bear at special brunches following select shows. Snow Bear brunches will be hosted at Family Meal, located next door to the Children’s Theatre and will take place following the 10:30 a.m. performances at noon on December 5, December 12, and December 19.
