ComedySportz® Improv Camp for Kids

Drama Kids International

Film Camp – VCUarts

Final Act Drama’s Movie Making Camp
Story tellers, day dreamers, movies lovers, here is your chance. Student will write, direct, act and digitally edit his or her own short film. Students will rotate among crew positions to learn different jobs on the film set. Taught by instructors with hands on find and TV experience, students will use digital cameras and editing systems to create their own short films.

A Sabot Summer, for children ages 3 – 11.  is designed to combine the structure and novelty of themed morning camps with afternoon child care featuring relaxed, open-ended, and varied experiences. Summer programs include Engineering with Legos, Superhero Studio, Gardening, A Maker Camp,  Forest Camp, Spanish Immersion, and more. Each week-long Sabot Camp offering provides children with engaging opportunities for exploring and developing skills, sparking new ideas and interests, and fostering imagination and enthusiasm for the world around them. Our afternoon program is tailored to the needs of families who need continuity in child care for summer months. Enjoy our BARDway camp where you can learn to create songs from sonnets, learn traditional Elizabethan music and instruments, and create a play out of scenes, monologues, and stage combat! The final day of camp will result in a showcase of the work you create with the ensemble for your friends and family.

Shakespeare Superheroes!
Join us to learn about Shakespeare’s superheroes – the actors! Play some of the great characters in scenes and monologues, experience fights with some of his super villains, and create a world around your text using sets, props, and costumes that you design and build.

Royals & Knights – with Drama Kids International!
Combined with our summer camp curriculum campers will spend the morning with Quill Theatre as they visit technique and skill in Shakespearean text. After lunch, Drama Kids will take the stage to learn the art of acting and improvisation. In addition campers will perform a full length play, The Triumph of Trevor Truelove, an all exclusive Drama Kids play. No auditions required. Join our cast as the vile Lord Villiars wreaks havoc on the town of Villiarsville, but who can save them? Students will present to family and friends on the final day of camp.

Swift Creek Mill Theatre Camp
Since 1994, Children’s Theatre Summer Camps at the Mill have offered fantastic beginner and performance-level camps that focus on voice, acting, movement and stage design, and are conducted by professionals in the performing arts.  2015 Performance Camp:  A two week Masters Class in acting, singing & dancing.  2015 Exploratory Theatre Camp:  Theatre enrichment classes.

Virginia Rep
Virginia Rep’s fun-filled camps are full of exploration, investigation and imagination. Our unique and fun day camps provide an exciting and comprehensive understanding of professional theatre performance and production for students from preschool through 10th grade. With instruction by some of Virginia’s finest theatre artists and educators, your dramatic student will have a theatrical experience like no other!  We strive to keep the tuition costs affordable for all of our campers. A limited amount of tuition assistance is available for those families with an identified need. The application will be provided to you upon request.

Art Adventures Camp
Summer Camps will be held in the Chester Studio at Point of Rocks Park (near River’s Bend) Each camp meets for one hour each day for four days in a row. (Monday-Thursday) Take back to back camps for hours of FUN!

Art is Fun

Creative Arts Day Camp at VCU
The Department of Art Education at VCUarts is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K- 9.  Classes are divided by age and four classes are offered each session. Classes are held on the VCU campus and are taught by undergraduate and graduate art education students.  The camp will provide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpture, digital media, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more.

Next Step Needlecraft Summer Camp
Calling students interested in the fiberarts, children who enjoyed String Theory Summer Camp, and those curious how yarn is made to Next Step Needlecraft!  Learn how to crochet, spin yarn, create needle-crafted wonders and learn how to use a punch rug needle.  Experience the heritage and portability of these lesser known crafts, with projects students bring home at the end of the week!

Every year, our Spirited Art studios offer a variety of summer camps for kids ages 5-12. Each summer comes with brand new paintings created just for our campers! Our camps are designed for kids to have loads of fun while learning about the basics of painting. Talented instructors walk the kids through the paintings, step-by-step. At the end of the camps, the kids leave having made new friends and paintings they can be proud of!

String Theory Summer Camp
Tinking Turtle Designs and the Hanover Arts and Activities Center announce an exciting new partnership to bring fiberarts to local children with String Theory Summer Camp! Do you know the difference between string and yarn? Have you ever wanted to learn how to knit or sew, but didn’t know where to start?  Want to create art that is wearable and versatile?  Experience fiber crafts that are rich in history yet practical and portable.  Learn how to spin your own yarn, dye it in a variety of colors, read a pattern, knit and sew.  Supplies are included, and campers can bring projects home at the end of the summer camp.

VCU Creative Arts Day Camp
For children rising into grades K- 9.  Classes are divided by age and three to four classes are offered each session. The camp gives participants experience in various art media such as: digital art, sculpture, painting, clay, fibers, printmaking and drawing.  Classes are held on the VCU campus. Creative Arts Day Camp is getting Up Close and Contemporary!  Students will explore the fascinating world of contemporary art, learning about the artistic concepts, processes, and media of today. Each week will be different, so participants may sign up for more than one session.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts 
VMFA has fun summer camps this summer, with over a hundred week-long studio art camps and classes! Children’s annual Summer Art Adventures & teens’ Summer in the Studio programs run for eight weeks. These exciting programs encourage children and teens to create, learn, grow, and have fun! Each camp is tailored to a specific age group and provides access to professional materials, expert instruction, and a world-renowned art collection.

Visual Arts Center of Richmond - RichmondmomVisArts’ ArtVenture Summer Camp

At the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, kids spend the summer making real art with the help of some of Richmond’s most prominent professional artists.  Week-long summer camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. and parents can opt to enroll kids in an extended day program that runs through the lunch hour and until 5 p.m. Choose from dozens of courses such as Masked Music Parade, Pet Portraits, Piñata Party and Digital Dreamscapes. Each class focuses on a specific media, skill or subject.  High school students who want to improve their technique and add significant work to their portfolios should register for Art League. This summer, Art League students can take Foundations of Drawing, Textile and Design, Metalsmithing and the Art of Self-Publishing.

Music

Bach to Rock Midlothian – Summer Camp
Designed for students of all levels, from beginners to seasoned artists, Bach to Rock offers half day and full day summer camps. Rock Band (age 7+) and Glee Club (7+) camp students need no prior experience and will learn music theory and technique using the songs they love. They’ll record a CD and perform for an audience by the end of camp.  Rock City World Tour (age 4-7) takes students through a musical world tour of story-telling, musical movement and instrument exploration developing the skills needed to read music, play simple rhythms and develop fine motor control.  Using our state of the art recording studio, we offer a Recording Arts Camp (age 10+) and Record a Studio Demo Camp for existing bands.

Orchestra Project
The Richmond Symphony and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have partnered to create Orchestra Project, a unique orchestra camp for young string musicians in grades 2-12. Students study with VCU professors and full-time musicians from the Richmond Symphony. The camps are designed to immerse young string players in making great music together.
