Active Learning Chess Camps
The camp schedule is structured, but at the same time it is fun. Classroom size for our chess program averages 12-15 campers.  We make every effort to group friends together, but groupings within the chess programs are dependent on the camper’s chess playing ability. Teaching methods and lessons are specific to each instructor, but the main focus is the same: present the chess material in a fun, exhilarating and entertaining way. All necessary equipment is provided.

Blue Sky Fund’s Outdoor Leadership Institute
A two week leadership program for current 8th, 9th, and 10th graders from all backgrounds. The youth will get to experience a 5 day backpacking trip and learn how to serve their community better. For more information, please check out our website at www.blueskyfund.org.

Boy Scouts of America

Camp Accomplish

Camp Blue Sky at Rainbow Station Camp Blue Sky is divided into three divisions according to the ages of our campers. While each division is involved in our traditional day camp program, all of our activities are designed specifically to meet the developmental needs of the campers in each division. Within each division, campers are put into small groups based on age and gender.

Camp Blue Ridge
Camp Blue Ridge is a Christian Youth Camp that exists to provided a safe place for kids of all ages to come and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation and friendship. We are a resident camp that offers a variety of weekly sessions. Campers may come for one week or as many that apply to their age group.

Camp Chanco
Chanco on the James has one of the most successful youth camping programs in Virginia. The camp program has been running continuously since 1968 and is accredited by the American Camping Association. The residential camp for boys and girls ages 8 to16 years is a place for having fun, making friends, trying new things, and enjoying God’s creation.

Camp Cheerio

Camps at Chincoteague Bay
The Field Station offers a variety of school break and summer camps and courses that give all campers a hands-on, feet-wet experience. Camps and courses are offered for a variety of ages and interests.

Camp Hanover

Camp Horizon
Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Camp Horizons is an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited, coed residential summer camp in Virginia that is consistently ranked as one of the best residential summer camps in Virginia for boys and girls ages 6-17 years old.

Camp Kesem
Camp Kesem at VCU was founded in 2013 and supports children in the Richmond community by providing a week-long summer camp experience and year-long peer support. Camp Kesem at VCU is operated by 15 student volunteers and serves 30 campers ages 6-16 per year.

Camp Pamunkey Ridge – Girl Scouts Central Virginia
Pamunkey Ridge Girl Scout Camp is located on 240 acres along the banks of the Pamunkey River approximately 25 minutes north of Richmond. A day and resident camp program facility, Pamunkey Ridge features fully-enclosed cabins, modern restrooms, and dining hall equipped with a restaurant quality kitchen, tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, equestrian canter, and a large sports field.

Camp Pocahontas I and II
Campers will explore the environment and the life of Pocahontas and the culture of the Powhatan people through activities and arts and crafts. Using our re-created Powhatan village of Arrohateck, hands-on activities will include cooking, farming, hunting skills, house and canoe building, weaving fishing nets and making pottery, arrows and tools. Camp Roanoke
Nestled within 700 acres of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Camp Roanoke’s campers have enjoyed outdoor adventures such as canoeing, field games, hiking, campfires and a challenge course complete with a 44-foot climbing tower. Older campers will enjoy off-site excursions like rock climbing and caving. Younger campers can stay for just the day with free satellite transportation.

Camp Silver Beach 
Camps for kids, teens, and families on the beautiful east coast. It’s just like summer camp, but for the whole family. Evening programs include games, skits, sing-a-longs, bonfires and s’mores. Festivities begin at 7pm on Friday with an board games in the Dining Hall. What a great way to spend time together as a family!

Camp Thunderbird Outdoor Camp (YMCA)
A typical day at Camp Thunderbird may include the following: arts and crafts, camp songs and skits, music drama and dance, outdoor education and survival, hiking, fort building, archery, marksmanship (bb guns for all ages and .22 rifles for children 11+), fishing, sports and field games, canoeing, basketball, team building, swim lessons, free swim, climbing the alpine tower, and riding the zip line. Day Camp is offered for Rising K-7th grades. Free bus stops are provided throughout the Greater Richmond community.  The YMCA is open to all, offering financial assistance to those who qualify.

Camp Tuckahoe Summer Camp
Camp Tuckahoe is proud to present it’s new summer program! Each week is a new experience with its own unique theme. days are jam packed with crazy games, fitness challenges and sports activities that are guaranteed to bring out the athlete in every child (Ages 5-12).

Championship Chess
Chess instruction includes Openings, Middle Game, Tactics and Endgame.  Bring a lunch (Pizza Lunch provided on Friday).  Camp activities include practice using chess clock and taking notation, playing chess using our giant lawn chess set, tournament with prizes, free play and bug house.  T-shirts will be provided.  Register online.

Chess – Dragon Chess Camp 
The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Chess Club is hosting a chess summer camp for rising 3rd–9th graders. Instructors are experienced players from the Maggie Walker Chess team supported by advanced players from the greater-Richmond community. We research the latest trends in an array of educational fields to ensure we are developing high-quality and engaging camps that serve as an extension of our school’s mission. Critter Camp
The Richmond SPCA offers week-long Critter Camps throughout the summer for animal-loving children of various ages. From dog training to animal advocacy, there is something for everyone! Edible Education’s Camp C.H.E.F.
Campers will learn how to make 12-18 recipes using fresh local ingredients with our team of experienced chefs. We offer all day, half day and over night camps which relate to fun themes such as “Open a Bakery”, “Down on the Farm” and “The Science of Cooking” at 11 locations in the Richmond area. If they make it – they will eat it.

Emory & Henry College – Summer Adventure Program
Open to all High School Students & Recent Graduates. Emory & Henry College offers the Summer Adventure Program which extends the College’s popular outdoor experiences to high school students, engaging adventures on the area’s lakes, rivers, cliffs and trails during four week-long camps. Ultimately, participants will experience the freedom and wonder of the beautiful and ancient Appalachian Mountains – all while building backcountry expertise, self-confidence and independence. Good Shepherd Episcopal School
Good Shepherd Episcopal School offers camps for ages 5-14 from a broad variety of providers housed under one roof. We have the largest camp program south of the James. We offer morning and afternoon sessions with bridge care for pre-camp, lunch hour and post-camp for a full-day, 8am-6pm experience, if desired. The Youth Summer Program is a recreational program held during the summer at elementary and middle schools throughout Hanover County. Activities include arts & crafts, sports & games, field trips, special visitors (guest presenters) and more.
Our 4-day Irish dance camps will give your dancer a taste of both group and solo Irish dancing. Camps meet Monday to Thursday for 2 hours each day – in one week, your dancer will receive the equivalent of 8 weeks of classes! Beginners will learn the basics of soft shoe dancing and show off their skills at an end-of-week mini Feis on Thursday. Campers in our Advanced Beginner/Intermediate camp will hone soft and hard shoe skills and work on drills and brush-up for the fall semester.
The Heart of Virginia Council offers a number of day camp opportunities in different parts of the Council.  Scouts are encouraged to attend the camp (or camps) having the most convenient dates and location for his family.  Each camp is unique depending on the opportunities afforded by the venue and available staff, but all offer a fun, high quality camp experience at the same reasonable cost.
The Jeremiah Project is a mission ministry specializing in providing short-term mission trips for middle school student participants.

Lewis and Clark Leadership Camps

Lockhart Family Farm Summer Camp
In 2016, we are hosting three summer farm day camps and one unique farm based experience for children. Children of all ages will  have the opportunity to learn about animals, conservation, cooking, bush craft, and other outdoor activities.

Maggie Walker Dragon Chess Camp 
Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Chess Team is preparing to host Dragon Chess Camp for another summer. This camp, is organized by experienced players on the MLWGS Chess Team, and is further supported by advanced players from the Richmond Community. Open to chess players of all levels, from complete beginner to advanced scholastic player.

Maymont Summer Discovery Camps
Nature calls! Maymont’s wildly popular summer camps offer outdoor adventures, animal encounters, games, crafts and hands-on activities for nature explorers ages 3-rising 6th graders. Mercersburg Summer Camp

Pamplin Historical Park
Pamplin Historical Park History Day Camps combine learning, camaraderie and fun. Your child will live the life of a Civil War soldier, in camp, on the march, on the battlefield and at home on furlough at this full day camp. It is an unforgettable experience that brings back campers year after year.  Kids 8-12 can participate in the 3-day History Day Camps to experience the way soldiers and civilians of Civil War-era Virginians lived.  Pamplin Historical Park also offers both a Civil War Adventure Camp.
