4 Star Camps
At UVA for academics, golf and tennis. Our priorities for the camp are clear – each season our goal is to raise the bar in regards to safety, outstanding staff, customized courses and most of all just plain fun.

Abacus Math Club
Abacus Math Club offers a half-day academic enrichment summer day camp for children ages 5 to 9 at Richmond Academy in the West End. Children will have daily classes in math, reading and manners. Activities include hands-on lessons, educational games, puppet shows, and recess. Master the FUNdamentals this summer.

ACAC Summer Camp
The ultimate Richmond day camp nestled in Midlothian close to the James River. Summer Camp at ACAC Fitness & Wellness Center combines indoor and outdoor fun for enjoyable play all day. Campers enjoy daily swimming, movies in the theater, field games, inflatables, arts and crafts, sports and weekly field trips.

Active Learning Chess Camps
The camp schedule is structured, but at the same time it is fun. Classroom size for our chess program averages 12-15 campers.  We make every effort to group friends together, but groupings within the chess programs are dependent on the camper’s chess playing ability. Teaching methods and lessons are specific to each instructor, but the main focus is the same: present the chess material in a fun, exhilarating and entertaining way. All necessary equipment is provided.

Active Learning Computer Game Creation & Scratch Animation
Computer enrichment programs typically have two longer sessions with a snack break in between. At the beginning of camp they will be assigned a computer and will work on that machine throughout the week.  The instructor will follow our step by step curriculum as the kids learn to create their games or projects.

Art is Fun

Autism: Special Needs Camp – Weinstein JCC – Voices Together is for children with autism that offers stimulating activities while offering some socialization skills.

Bach to Rock Midlothian – Summer Camp
Designed for students of all levels, from beginners to seasoned artists, Bach to Rock offers half day and full day summer camps. Rock Band (age 7+) and Glee Club (7+) camp students need no prior experience and will learn music theory and technique using the songs they love. They’ll record a CD and perform for an audience by the end of camp.  Rock City World Tour (age 4-7) takes students through a musical world tour of story-telling, musical movement and instrument exploration developing the skills needed to read music, play simple rhythms and develop fine motor control.  Using our state of the art recording studio, we offer a Recording Arts Camp (age 10+) and Record a Studio Demo Camp for existing bands.

Blue Sky Fund’s Outdoor Leadership Institute
A two week leadership program for current 8th, 9th, and 10th graders from all backgrounds. The youth will get to experience a 5 day backpacking trip and learn how to serve their community better. For more information, please check out our website at www.blueskyfund.org.

Bogeys Sports Park Junior Golf Camp

Bricks 4 Kidz Camps
At Bricks 4 Kidz camps, we use LEGO bricks and STEM to build amazing worlds of fun in a variety of exciting themes. From mini-sculptures, to LEGO Mosaics, to motorized LEGO machines, your child will be engaged in STEM-enriched activities and making new LEGO-loving friends. Camp Allegheny
Camp Alleghany is an all-girls overnight summer camp, located in the Alleghany Mountains in Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Girls aged seven to sixteen spend three weeks at a time on the beautiful and peaceful banks of the Greenbrier River; the perfect environment to achieve our mission of naturally inspiring growth through honor, loyalty and friendship.

Camp Blue Sky at Rainbow Station Camp Blue Sky is divided into three divisions according to the ages of our campers. While each division is involved in our traditional day camp program, all of our activities are designed specifically to meet the developmental needs of the campers in each division. Camp Baker
Greater Richmond ARC’s Camp Baker is a full-service, handicap-equipped retreat located on 22 wooded acres near Pocahontas State Park in southern Chesterfield County. Camp Baker has been serving individuals with special needs since 1929 when it was a respite for undernourished children known as W.W. Baker Summer Camp. In 1957, ownership was transferred to Chesterfield County under the care of Greater Richmond ARC and renamed Camp Baker to serve children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Camp Blue Ridge
Camp Blue Ridge is a Christian Youth Camp that exists to provided a safe place for kids of all ages to come and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation and friendship. We are a resident camp that offers a variety of weekly sessions. Campers may come for one week or as many that apply to their age group.

Camp Chanco
Chanco on the James has one of the most successful youth camping programs in Virginia. The camp program has been running continuously since 1968 and is accredited by the American Camping Association. Camp Pamunkey Ridge – Girl Scouts Central Virginia
Pamunkey Ridge Girl Scout Camp is located on 240 acres along the banks of the Pamunkey River approximately 25 minutes north of Richmond. A day and resident camp program facility, Pamunkey Ridge features fully-enclosed cabins, modern restrooms, and dining hall equipped with a restaurant quality kitchen, tennis and basketball courts, a swimming pool, equestrian canter, and a large sports field.

Camp Pocahontas I and II
Campers will explore the environment and the life of Pocahontas and the culture of the Powhatan people through activities and arts and crafts. Using our re-created Powhatan village of Arrohateck, hands-on activities will include cooking, farming, hunting skills, house and canoe building, weaving fishing nets and making pottery, arrows and tools. Camp Rim Rock
Camp Rim Rock is more than a great place. It is an experience filled with tradition, character and friendship. For over 60 years, campers have learned to ride horses, play sports, swim and appreciate the arts. Learning to kick a soccer ball, trot on a horse and throw a bowl on a pottery wheel are all fun and are all skills that will last a lifetime. Those skills are only part of the lesson.

Camp Riverside
Camp Riverside is a unique day camp especially designed to meet the needs of students with dyslexia and other reading related language-based learning differences.

Camp Roanoke
Nestled within 700 acres of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Camp Roanoke’s campers have enjoyed outdoor adventures such as canoeing, field games, hiking, campfires and a challenge course complete with a 44-foot climbing tower. Older campers will enjoy off-site excursions like rock climbing and caving. Younger campers can stay for just the day with free satellite transportation.

Camp Silver Beach
Camps for kids, teens, and families on the beautiful east coast. It’s just like summer camp, but for the whole family. Evening programs include games, skits, sing-a-longs, bonfires and s’mores. Festivities begin at 7pm on Friday with an board games in the Dining Hall. What a great way to spend time together as a family!

Camp Strawderman
Camp Strawderman is about riding horseback, swimming in fresh water streams and hiking on mountain trails. It’s about belly laughs and Indian stories, sitting by roaring campfires and igniting lifelong friendships.

Camp Sunshine
Campers will explore a new theme each week through art, movement, water play, music and much more. We strive to help children grow in all aspects of their development through the power of play. We help each child develop a positive self-image, and independence. During our 5-day camps children will build on their fine and gross motor skills and develop higher-level thinking skills. Camps are designed especially for children ages 3 to 5 1/2 years old.

Camp Thunderbird Outdoor Camp (YMCA)
A typical day at Camp Thunderbird may include the following: arts and crafts, camp songs and skits, music drama and dance, outdoor education and survival, hiking, fort building, archery, marksmanship (bb guns for all ages and .22 rifles for children 11+), fishing, sports and field games, canoeing, basketball, team building, swim lessons, free swim, climbing the alpine tower, and riding the zip line. Day Camp is offered for Rising K-7th grades. Free bus stops are provided throughout the Greater Richmond community.  The YMCA is open to all, offering financial assistance to those who qualify.

Camp Tuckahoe Summer Camp

Each week of summer camp at the Cedarhouse is packed with new adventures! Our school age summer camp offers everything young hearts and minds crave – a challenging program filled with activities that inspire the imagination. Chatham Hall Investigators Science Camp
The Summer Investigators camp is built around the development of a student’s 21st century skills, especially those related to problem solving, collaboration and curiosity.  This is accomplished through the integration of the areas of biology, chemistry and technology into a program where students assume the role of crime scene investigators in order to solve a mock crime.

Chatham Hall Riding Camp
Chatham Hall Summer Riding features individual week long residential programs offered for riders aged 10-16. Riders should be capable of walk-trot-and beginner cantering on their own, independent of a lunge line. Riders participate in two hour-long mounted lessons daily in addition to numerous equine and craft activities.

Chess – Dragon Chess Camp 
The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Chess Club is hosting a chess summer camp for rising 3rd–9th graders. The Department of Art Education at VCUarts is offering the Creative Arts Day Camp for children rising into grades K- 9.  Classes are divided by age and four classes are offered each session. Classes are held on the VCU campus and are taught by undergraduate and graduate art education students.  The camp will provide students with experience in a variety of media including sculpture, digital media, printmaking, painting, drawing, bookmaking, fibers, and more.

For Rising 6th-12th Graders. Emory & Henry College offers the 37th annual Summer Scholars Institute & Leadership Program. Final Act Drama’s Movie Making Camp
Story tellers, day dreamers, movies lovers, here is your chance. Student will write, direct, act and digitally edit his or her own short film. Students will rotate among crew positions to learn different jobs on the film set. Taught by instructors with hands on find and TV experience, students will use digital cameras and editing systems to create their own short films.

Northstar’s Summer Program
Our program gives students the opportunity to reinforce and retain their academic skills in our relaxed, yet structured, atmosphere. For four weeks in the summer, students can receive instruction in language arts, math, handwriting/written expression and social skills. Many students are able to participate through Extended School Year (ESY) services provided by their local school system. Spirited Art
Every year, our Spirited Art studios offer a variety of summer camps for kids ages 5-12. Each summer comes with brand new paintings created just for our campers! Our camps are designed for kids to have loads of fun while learning about the basics of painting. Talented instructors walk the kids through the paintings, step-by-step. At the end of the camps, the kids leave having made new friends and paintings they can be proud of!

Enjoy our BARDway camp where you can learn to create songs from sonnets, learn traditional Elizabethan music and instruments, and create a play out of scenes, monologues, and stage combat! The final day of camp will result in a showcase of the work you create with the ensemble for your friends and family.

Shakespeare Superheroes!
Join us to learn about Shakespeare’s superheroes – the actors! Play some of the great characters in scenes and monologues, experience fights with some of his super villains, and create a world around your text using sets, props, and costumes that you design and build.

Royals & Knights – with Drama Kids International!
Combined with our summer camp curriculum campers will spend the morning with Quill Theatre as they visit technique and skill in Shakespearean text. After lunch, Drama Kids will take the stage to learn the art of acting and improvisation. Sylvan Learning Summer Camps 
During the summer, most parents default to enrolling their child in a general summer camp or
sports clinic, but what if there was an option for kids to explore an academic interest and build a competitive edge in the classroom? The Sylvan Learning Center of Richmond is introducing Math Edge — a new activity this summer for kids to build math skills and avoid summer learning loss. Designed for kids in grades one through five, Math Edge helps nurture students’ natural math ability and builds on core math concepts in a fun, kid-friendly learning environment alongside other kids with similar interests. Well-trained teachers manage the small sessions of 12 students or less and offer encouragement, motivation and rewards in an effort to foster independent learning and encourage students to set personal goals. Math Edge is a unique learning experience that also allows students to build camaraderie with a small group of their peers.

VCU Creative Arts Day Camp
For children rising into grades K- 9.  Classes are divided by age and three to four classes are offered each session. The camp gives participants experience in various art media such as: digital art, sculpture, painting, clay, fibers, printmaking and drawing.  Classes are held on the VCU campus. Creative Arts Day Camp is getting Up Close and Contemporary!  Students will explore the fascinating world of contemporary art, learning about the artistic concepts, processes, and media of today. Virginia Rep’s fun-filled camps are full of exploration, investigation and imagination. Our unique and fun day camps provide an exciting and comprehensive understanding of professional theatre performance and production for students from preschool through 10th grade. With instruction by some of Virginia’s finest theatre artists and educators, your dramatic student will have a theatrical experience like no other!  We strive to keep the tuition costs affordable for all of our campers. At the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, kids spend the summer making real art with the help of some of Richmond’s most prominent professional artists.  Week-long summer camp sessions run from 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m. and parents can opt to enroll kids in an extended day program that runs through the lunch hour and until 5 p.m. Choose from dozens of courses such as Masked Music Parade, Pet Portraits, Piñata Party and Digital Dreamscapes. Each class focuses on a specific media, skill or subject.  High school students who want to improve their technique and add significant work to their portfolios should register for Art League.
