The thought of decorating for summer may sound like a daunting task, but making a few simple changes can make all the difference and give your home a fresh look and feel. These small changes can be made with minimal effort and very little cost. These are a few of my favorite inexpensive way to decorate for summer! All of the images below are links to the products pictured.

5 Inexpensive Ways to Decorate for Summer

Get Nautical: Anchors and horizontal stripes are the perfect way to decorate for summer without having to think too much about it. Replacing a piece of wall art with an anchor or a life raft gives your entire space a summer vibe. These are some of my favorite classic, inexpensive options. (That “welcome aboard” raft is less than $2 bucks including tax!)

Replacing the throw pillows on your couch with some nautical inspired ones will add a pop of color and give the room a fresh, summer feel. Throw pillows can be a little pricey, so I love getting just the pillow cases and throwing them on over my current pillows. Check out these options for around $3 each!

Switch Up Your Curtains: This might sound like a big deal, but switching out heavy curtains with something light and sheer makes a huge difference! It will brighten the entire room give it a breezy, summer feel. These sheer white curtains are super inexpensive and offer an awesome alternative to a dark or heavy curtain. You can also double up on these if they’re a little too sheer for you taste. Another advantage to switching out your curtains for the summer is that you will prolong the wear of your regular curtains.

Bring The Beach to You: While ocean themes can get overwhelming as permanent décor, bringing in some beach elements during the summer gives a fresh summer feel to your rooms. Putting some greenery in a large shell or filling a glass bowl with sand and pretty shells make for a beautiful center piece. These starfish are perfect for creating a beachy center piece or table runner décor. If you have kids that have been to the beach, chances are you have some seashells laying around the house, but if not, these are perfect for creating your own centerpiece.

Utilize Your Garden: Nothing says spring and summer like fresh flowers! This is one of the easiest ways to decorate for summer. If you have your own garden, make a new arrangement once a week to keep on your kitchen table! Switching our your flowers on a regular basis keeps your room looking and smelling fresh! If you don’t have a garden or the time to create or buy fresh arrangements, just switch out your artificial arrangements with something new for summer! Here are some tips for finding inexpensive artificial flowers!

Switch Out Your Photos/Wall Art: If you are anything like me, once you put a photo in a frame, it’s pretty much there for life. While this is an easy rut to fall into, taking a few minutes to replace your current photos with pictures from last years trip to the beach will really aid in giving your home that summer feel. Another great option is to switch out your art with light, summery images. These are a few of my favorite inexpensive finds, in addition to the nautical options listed above!
