80s Moms vs Moms Today – Halloween Edition!

Remember being a kid and heading out for a night of trick or treating? Well, if you grew up in the 80s, chances are your experience was a lot different than it is for kids today. In the days B.P. (“Before Pinterest,” that is), Halloween was a fun holiday…but a simpler one. Our costumes were more likely to be made from odds and ends we found around the house or at a thrift store, decorations consisted of a handful of grinning pumpkins with triangles for eyes, and trick or treating was little more than a chance to roam the neighborhood unsupervised with our friends after dark. As you prepare to do Halloween with your own kids in just a few days, it’s fair to admit – times have changed.

You may remember our post awhile back on 1980s Moms vs. 2019 Moms and how they handle summer activities differently. Well, once again, Tiffany Jenkins from Juggling the Jenkins and Meredith Masony of That’s Inappropriate have teamed up to create a hilarious look at the how our approach to parenting has changed over the years – only this time, they’re taking on Halloween.

In today’s Share Saturdays, we’re going to take a funny, but all-too-true, look at the difference in how 80s moms tackled the Halloween holiday versus how our own Pinterest-addled brains handle it today. And let’s be honest, there are plenty of us who will look back at our own childhood and wonder how we survived considering the differences. I mean, I probably have a little more of the 80s mom in me than I would like to admit, but even I don’t give my kids a carving knife and let them have a go at the pumpkin!

If you’re looking for a laugh today – even if it’s at your own expense – sit back and enjoy today’s look at the wonderful world of motherhood and how it’s improved…or has it??
