2019 Holiday Events in Richmond

2019 Holiday Events Even though most of us have barely cleared the Thanksgiving leftovers out of the fridge, the winter holidays are fast approaching. And with a Thanksgiving that came a bit later in the year than usual, many of us find ourselves a bit behind. With only a few short weeks left to go before Christmas Day, it’s easy to find ourselves in a gift-buying/hiding/wrapping frenzy. But no matter how pushed for time and resources we may feel, it’s important to stop and remember what the holiday season is all about. It’s not just about giving and getting gifts, but about giving and getting time with loved ones. It’s about remembering our many blessings. And most importantly, it’s about sharing the greatest gift we can give – our love. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take the time to celebrate some of Richmond’s best holiday events while we’re at it!

Fortunately, many of our favorite holiday events – the ones we count on as a way to spend time with family and friends – are scheduled a bit later this year, meaning that we can all relax a little knowing that there’s still plenty of opportunities to celebrate the season.

Whether you spend the holidays quietly with immediate family, end up hosting multiple branches of the family tree, or like to make extra time to celebrate with friends, you can rest assured that there are plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday season here in Richmond. As always, we’ve put together a list of some of the top holiday celebrations, events, and performances together so that you’ll have no shortage of holiday fun.

Be sure to scroll the complete list or use the quicklinks below to see what’s coming up this holiday season. And of course, don’t forget to add in a visit to Santa. You can find local Richmond area Santa visits and photo opps with our 2019 Santa Guide for Greater Richmond.

Last but not least, if you have a favorite holiday event that we may have overlooked or are hosting one yourself and would like to see it added to the list, be sure to let us know! you can reach us at cs@richmondmom.com.

In the meantime, from our Richmond Mom family to yours – we wish you a warm and happy holiday season!

Holiday Dreams, A Spectacular Holiday Cirque!

Holiday Dreams is a holiday show unlike any other. The story centers around two characters: one who is going to tell a wonderful Christmas story and the other, a Grinch-like heckler from the audience who is at the “wrong show.” Jaded and cynical, our whimsical heckler is taken into a journey around the beauty and wonder of the Holiday Season, represented in all its glory with the use of projection mapping–a technique of projecting computer images as seen by audiences in television shows like America’s Got Talent. Holiday Dreams also features holograms, where elements seem to appear and disappear from thin air and interactive Lasers. An incredibly diverse and talented cast of acrobats, cirque performers, musical comedy actors, and daredevils round out this truly unique and modern show.

Cost: $42-$72; click here to purchase tickets online.
