i35 Bridge ProjectI-35 W Bridge Project

On October 8, 2007 Mn/DOT awarded a $237 million contract to Flat Iron Manson, a Joint Venture, to reconstruct the I-35 W St. Anthony Falls Bridge.  J&L Steel Erectors was awarded the contract to install all reinforcement steel and post-tensioning materials in the new structure.  The original bid was based on 17 million pounds of reinforcement steel and the post-tensioning component was later added.

J&L Steel crews have maintained excellent safety standards despite the challenging work environment of this project.  Click here to view a recent OSHA audit report.

Construction began on the bridge in November of 2007.  Crews will be asked to go above and beyond the normal expectations by working two-12 hours shifts, seven days a week until the project is completed in December of 2008.

The tragic collapse of the bridge on August 1, 2007 has put this high profile project in both the local and national spotlightMike Reger and Bennie Berg are the project managers for J&L Steel Erectors. Jim Boatwright is the Field Superintendent.
