LEAF Foundation & Teachers On Call encourage challenged kids: Yes, you can!

Barbara Bingham knows special needs kids and their families. Her company, Teachers On Call, now a non-profit foundation called the LEAF Foundation, is a one-of-a-kind solution for learning-challenged kids.

Barbara made her vision a reality when she saw a gap in the Richmond community: kids with autism, downs syndrome, developmental delays and other challenges didnt have a one-stop educational center.

Her secret? Barbara enthusiastically says its her staff. With licensed specialists and tutors who truly care about developing children into successful adults, Barbara says Our staff absolutely makes the difference. They go above-and-beyond to build relationships with the children and their families. Most of these children need to consistently hear: You CAN do this and our staff delivers.

The Midlothian-based facilitys staff is the only in the area to serve ages 3-30 through in-house and in-home visits. Our mission is to empower all students to read, write, calculate, speak, summarize, test, and interact, overcoming odds and struggles that have blocked their way in the past, says Barbara.

Research shows that 70% of children with base disabilities success is dependent on confidence - there is no better way to boost self esteem than by experiencing success in a safe environment. With that in mind, I designed our programs to only work in one-on-one settings for most situations - with a few narrow exceptions. Never in my life have I experienced and seen such success as I have with our students.

The LEAF Foundation serves to provide scholarships to families who are already burdened with costs that typically stem from the many services learning-challenged children require.

This Richmond mom clearly has a passion for children with special needs. Selflessly building her business while caring for her own two childrenone of whom has autism---is a challenge, and one for which she is tireless.

Can you imagine your child's grades increasing three letter grades in a month?? How about a child who can barely read, successfully reading on grade level in six months? We have seen it!
