5 Date Nights For Summertime or Anytime

While keeping the kids entertained is vital to summer sanity, it’s equally important to take the time to spend a few hours with my fabulous husband.

Here are 5 fun date night ideas in Richmond or anywhere:

1) Nature: Walking, running, biking is so much more fun together. Richmond is full of so many beautiful parks and paths from Belle Isle to Pocahontas State Park to Deep Run Park. Plus, this date is free and can happen anytime, anywhere.

2) Sports: Heading to the stadium whether it’s the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Richmond Kickers or road-tripping up to Washington D.C. to see The Nationals or D.C. United, is fun! The cheering, the eating of hot dogs, the not having to chase a child around is a great date!

3) Theater: Goochland Drive-in Movie Theater has a great line-up to snuggle with your honey while munching popcorn, and the movie can be rated PG-13. Ooh, and if it’s raining, head to Cinebistro and even see an R-rated movie. Whoa!

4) Festivals: From Jazz to Folk Music, Wine to Beer, there are so many festivals in Richmond and meandering around with your sweetheart on your arm eating and drinking and dancing sounds so lovely.

5) Tours: I’m a poet who’s never been to the Edgar Allen Poe Museum. I’ve also never taken the water version of the canal tour because I don’t want to be trapped on the boat with little kids. When I live somewhere, I forget to see the sights until I leave, and I’m not planning to leave Richmond anytime soon so date night is becoming tourist time so I don’t miss a thing.

Canal walk date
Our last date to the canal was hilarious. No idea why but you could go and find out.
