I sure know how to pick ‘em.
We’re staying at the lovely Hotel del Coronado in San Diego for a few days so a kidless walk through this 130+ year-old historical beauty’s gift shop yesterday was like a breath of fresh air. Marilyn Monroe vacationed here, and filmed Some Like it Hot on these very grounds. Much of The Wizard of Oz was written here, too. Uncovering all of this majestic history in this beautiful beach-side setting was an amazing walk down pop-culture memory lane.
Until I ran into the chick pictured at left plastered all over the gift shop. She checked in here, but never checked out.
Yep, that’s Kate, who happens to be the ghost at the Hotel Del Coronado. Apparently, she was having an affair was supposed to meet the object of her affection here at this very place. When he didn’t show, she apparently did herself in on the steps down to the lovely beach on the San Diego coastline on which the hotel sits, grandiose.
It’s apparently not unheard of to see Kate roaming the halls of this hotel and for other “paranormal” events to occur surrounding her untimely death here.
Only I could end up spending my vacation with a ghost who shares my name. Aw well, who knows, maybe we’ll run into each other and hang out. Who couldn’t use a friend on the other side?
Haha love it!
