Jodie Strum started her Stella and Dot business because of her dog. Really!
She had seen the jewelry on the celebs and in all the fashion magazines andthought it was amazing (and with half the line under $50, surprisingly affordable),but she was working a full-time job and didn’t see the need to take on anotherbusiness. Until, of course, her dog needed critical medical care after an accident, resulting in thousands of dollars in medical bills.
How to replenish her bank account? Jodie got cracking on her Stella and Dot empire and, even with a full-time job, has built not only her business but hashelped twenty-five other women in Richmond and surrounding areas do the same.
Why does she love it? “The flexibility was key for me. Working full-time, I could sell as little or as much as I wanted to. When I initially started, my plan was to do one show a month.
When I realized I was making $250-$300 for a two hour cocktail party-and was having so much fun- I wanted more! When I started meeting otherwomen, from stay-at-home moms to working women like me who needed extra cash, it just seemed like the perfect fit to grow my team and quadruple my commissions.”
Jodie’s reps have earned money from their home party and e-commercebusinesses to fund Disney vacations, pay for preschool, or even buy a new car! It all depends on how much they can—and want— to put into it.
The beauty of this job is the freedom to run your own business, and work as little or as much as desired. With no cap on commissions, and corporate support with state of the arttraining, incentives and promotions, the sky is the limit.
