Get ready for the Heart the Arts Festival 2011 at the Short Pump Children’s Museum of Richmond, as kids get involved in the arts and plenty of fun activities. It’s all on the street in front of the Children’s Museum of Richmond - Short Pump, from noon until 5:00 p.m.
And there’s plenty to celebrate and enjoy:
- Matt Lively with Squiggle demonstrations (kids draw squiggles and Matt transforms them into the real thing)
- Mural demonstrations with local artists Ed Trask and Caroline Schallmo
- Blacksmith demonstrations with Daniel Boone VII
- Cookie decorating with Confectionery Arts instructorAnn Spark from 2-4 p.m.
- Special art activity from Young Rembrand
- Hat making and paper lantern making from CMoR
- Fun, outdoor games like three legged races, hula hooping, a moon bounce, crazy hat contest, a watermelon eating contest
- Dances from Latin Ballet of Virginia
- Mysteriosos magicians
- Food and treats from Whole Foods, Tropical Smoothie, Keagans, Sweet Spot and Kona Grill
- Vendors from REI, La Diff, French Boutique, Silver Parrot Boutique, 3 Sports, Aloft and Strange’s Florists
- Richmond SPCA furry friends
The Glen Cultural Arts Center will provide lots of information and previews of their art classes. You can also learn more about CMoR summer camps and fun activities every day at the museum.
