A clogged drain can be one of the most frustrating and anxiety-provoking household problems. And when it’s the master bath shower drain, there is really not a lot of time to be wasted.
On a recent hot summer day, we realized that the shower drain that had been a little sluggish of late, was now in a full-fledged revolt and was no longer allowing water to drain. I immediately saw dollar signs floating around in my head and imagined the plumber tredging through my house with dusty, dirty shoes, dragging plumbing tools and buckets with goodness knows what dripping from them, and a long wait to even get him or her into the house.
Boy was I wrong!
Gundlach to the Rescue
I’ve been writing for Richmondmom.com for quite a while and I’ve seen those ads for Gundlach. I’ve even written an article or two about them. But until I took advantage of their services first-hand, I had no idea how great they were. One phone call and I was immediately connected to Joe, who set up a service call immediately. I called after 5:00 p.m. the day it all started and he said he could send someone out right away. After catching my breath at such expedient service, I suggested we schedule it for the following day since we could use an upstairs bath in the meantime.
My appointment was set for 2:00 p.m. and I had lots of morning appointments and meetings. I found myself getting irritated during the morning as I assumed the repairman would arrive late after I had rushed to get home on time. My cell phone rang around 1:15 p.m. and it was the Gundlach repairman asking me if 2:00 was still okay or would it be better if he came a little early.
Early? What? That’s impossible – repairmen don’t arrive on time, let alone early!
I happily agreed to have him come early and he was soon pulling in my driveway. I watched as he pulled out his equipment, buckets, and tools and carefully examined them to make sure they were clean. As he approached the door, he pulled two shoe covers from his pocket and placed them over his shoes. A knock at the door and a pleasant voice said, “Hi, I’m Brad Dowdy with Gundlach Plumbing and this is Mike Lara. We’re here to take care of your plumbing problems.”
Now that’s a first – a serviceman who took time to be polite, introduce himself, and make me feel a bit more comfortable. Within less than 30 minutes, his work was done and everything was as clean and organized as it had been before he stepped into the house. There were no traces of footprints or dirt left behind in the shower floor when he finished.
I asked them how they liked working for Gundlach as they were leaving. Mike quickly responded, “I’ve been with the company for 19 years because it’s a great place to work. They treat people like people and not numbers, and we have a real family environment.”
Brad confirmed Mike’s response, “I’ve been with them for 16 years and it’s because it’s a great place to work and I like to help people. You won’t find a better boss than Lorrie or a better plumbing and heating company than Gundlach.”
A New Level of Customer Service
After having many negative experiences with plumbers, electricians, painters, and other service people, this was truly a positive one. The woman-owned family business has surely taken customer service to a new level in this industry and it shows through the people and the work they perform. Joe even made a follow-up call the next day to ensure everything was working fine and there were no problems.
Save Money with Savvy Saver
I used my Savvy Saver Card and promptly received 10% off my bill, making it even better. I can honestly tell you that Gundlach Plumbing is a top-notch plumbing service. And they also provide heating and air conditioning services, along with accessories such as tankless water heaters, carbon monoxide monitors, fresh air filtering systems, and more. I was also excited to learn that they install garbage disposals for homes using septic systems too. That’s good news for all of us not on public utilities.
I called the owner, Lorrie Gore, a few days later to relay my experience to her. She was very proud as she explained to me, “We’re a boutique plumbing, heating and air conditioning service, and we pride ourselves on prompt, professional and courteous service.”
No worries Lorrie – that is obvious through your employees and the service levels they provide!
Contact Gundlach Plumbing, Heating and Air if you have any service needs. Don’t forget to take advantage of the $500 tax credits and $1,400 rebates when you have new systems installed too. And always remember to use your Richmondmom.com Savvy Saver Card for a 10% discount!
