Science on a Sphere Demonstrates What’s Happening with Earthquakes and Hurricanes

Science on the Sphere is an incredible look at what's happening around the earth - hurricanes, earthquakes, and more!

The earth is shaking!

The Science Museum of Virginia is offering an opportunity to see how the recent earthquake and hurricane Irene are affecting the earth. There are presentations today, August 24, at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. on Science on a Sphere. The show continues for the next 30 days so you have a chance to plan a visit to see it if you can’t make it today.

SCIENCE ON A SPHERE®
Science On a Sphere® offers animated images of atmospheric storms, climate change and ocean temperature, illuminating sometimes complex environmental processes in a captivating way. Science on a Sphere is one of only 60 of these exhibits in the world and it provides information on everything related to weather, climate and other things affecting the earth. The Science Museum of Virginia can actually show you things that are happening right now across the earth — and with the latest earthquake and hurricane, it’s a great time to check it out.

Kids and adults will learn more about the earthquake and Hurricane Irene at this exhibit. Projectors around the room will offer magnificent displays and it works very much like a video game. It’s an incredible experience and very timely with all that’s happening right now.
