Handson Greater Richmond Day 2011
Poe’s Pumpkin Patch. Tired of your kids being so normal? Inspire their imaginations by bringing them to the Poe Museum for some fun and weird Poe-themed activities with mummies, black cats, ravens, and a whole cast of strange characters from Poe’s best-known works. Your kids can experience a scavenger hunt, get their faces painted like a Poe character, or wrap their very own mummy.
Pumpkin Festival – Trick or Treat Festival Weekend- Costume contest and safe early trick or treating for the kids. Wear your Halloween Costume and receive $2 off admissions.
Gayton Road Church Fall Fest – 7am – 1pm. Gayton Road Christian Church – 12050 Ridgefield Parkway. Fall Fest for family fun. Brunswick stew and crafts.
Halloween Trick or Trot will be on Saturday, October 29th at 9am at Robious Landing Park (near James River High School). It will be a fun event for all ages, halloween costumes are encouraged. Registration includes a shirt and a chance to win many prizes. All proceeds will go to the James River Athletic Department.
The Great Pumpkin Palooza at Innsbrook is great family fun. Wear your Halloween costume and come for a day filled with activities, food, fun, music and more. Hallowe’en Graveyard Tour. Our Hallowe’en Graveyard Tour discusses the history and symbolism of the graveyard. Visitors will meet the spirits of the following people from early Richmond’s history, buried here.
Ravenchase Ultimate Halloween. Teams will compete against each other while solving clues and defeating Halloween-themed challenges on foot across downtown Richmond. Event culminates in a fantastic after-party where fabulously tacky prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Cost includes registration to the event and admission to after-party with entertainment. After-party is also open to the general public and will cost $5. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.
The Haunted Lantern Tour at Magnolia Grange is a low-key tour of a spooky Federal Plantation in rural Chesterfield, just south of Richmond. The house was built in 1822, and the Chesterfield Historical Society uses the home as a museum dedicated to interpreting 19th century life. On October 29th, the Historical Society will host the lantern-lit tour of the “haunted” house. The tours commence at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and 9 p.m., and are one hour each. Children under seven years old are $2, and adults are $5.
