A Real Richmond Mom: And My Daughter!

We’ve all done it.

You walk into someone else’s home and you see such beauty around you. Wow – they must have spent a fortune! Really – who has that much money to spend on decorating and who has time to decorate? How can they afford those designer creations?

As I browsed a recent blog that I absolutely love, I was in awe of the featured home. It was magnificent — and obviously there had been thousands of dollars spent on decorating. But wait – it’s my daughter’s house and I know she would never spend money like that. So……instead of spending thousands of dollars, maybe it was just creative genius [that also comes from having a Financial Planner/CPA for a dad I'm sure!].

I was so excited to see Dana’s home featured on the blog of a very successful local artist, Laura Trevey. Her blog, Bright Bold & Beautiful, is just that too – BRIGHT BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL!

Laura features photos of beautiful Richmond homes right along with the DIY tips and secrets of people who have learned how to do it themselves and save money. The homes on her blog are rich and bold in color and design. She turns to Richmond moms and others who have learned to create beauty around them with the simplest things and make it work.

Being the mom of such an artistic, creative and ‘thrifty’ daughter is enough to make any  mom proud. Dana has done an incredible job of taking something that is often ugly, discarded, and tossed out to turn it into something incredibly beautiful. I’m not sure where she got that talent, but I’m sure glad she has it because I couldn’t decorate my own house without her. [Insert sigh of relief and proud mom face here].

If you’re feeling the itch to do something fresh and new for spring and summer, then just click here to see the Bright Bold & Beautiful website and get inspired. And then get busy on your own DIY ideas to create a sanctuary for your family.

We’d love to feature more of our Richmond mom DIY ideas, so be sure and email them to us!
