Richmonder’s love festivals and celebrations. We’ll celebrate just about anything.
In case you haven’t heard of this one, you’re going to love it! November 9-18 is Cider Week Virginia. It’s a week of celebrating cider in every way possible.
What is cider?
It’s fermented apple juice just like fermented grape juice. The best cider is made from the freshest apples chosen especially for cider making. It’s different than the ‘apple juice’ you buy in grocery stores. People who specialize in making real apple cider take their business seriously – and that makes it delicious.
Not sure how you can celebrate cider and try the real thing? Check out some of these ways:
- November 9 is cider tasting at Camden’s Dogtown Market and Once Upon a Vine.
- November 10 is Cider & Cheese Workshop at Ellwood Thompson and Cider Tasting at Whole Foods Short Pump.
- November 11 is more wine tastings at Secco Wine Bar.
- November 15 is cider tasting at Belmont Butchery and Cider & Sausage Pairing at Ellwood Thompson’s.
- November 16 cider tasting takes place at Emerson Fine Wine.
- There are plenty of cider making and tasting celebrations in Charlottesville where apple orchards offer great quality apples for cider.
You can also create delicious foods with apple cider – from drinks and breakfast, to entrees and desserts. Try this delicious Pumpkin Cider Bread from Gourmet.
