This I believe.
I believe that the Constitution is a living document, subject to the evolution of society, or else it still would only apply to property-owning, white men.
I believe that the three most sacredly private relationships in a person’s life are with one’s family, with one’s doctor, and with one’s faith.
I believe that all who live among us deserve to be treated with honesty, dignity, and respect.
I believe that reasonable minds can debate economic policies, differ on international relations, and disagree on the role of government in our society.
However, I believe in Thomas Jefferson’s declaration that we are all created equal and that unquestionable foundation for our society extends to everyone regardless of race, religion, gender, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, sexual identity, or physical ability.
And, that immortal declaration assures we all have fair and open access to full participation in our government and rights afforded by our society.
This I believe.
And, for this, I vote.
