Sex ed in kindergarten? Really?

by Kate Willoughby Hall, Richmondmom.com CEO/Founder image

When I heard the news that Montana was considering offering sexual education to kindergarteners, I was floored. Then I was enraged. Then I tried to see the other side.

But it’s difficult to see to the other side when all I can picture is my children being fed information I’d much rather deliver myself, on my own time frame.

Maybe I’m old school. Heck, even President Obama agrees with it.

Nah, I just can’t see this. Even though the children are introduced to rudimentary sexual terms in kindergarten, and wouldn’t be taught about the “Act” until first grade, I had to wonder: has it really come to this? Can a six-year-old mind decipher this information, and if so, how will that little mind process it?

I’d love your thoughts. I’ll be stewing on this one for a while. Please help me see another point of view on this one.
