We were driving home the other day and as soon as we entered our neighborhood, my middle child, appropriately nicknamed “DevilBoy” said, “Mama, can I get out of this seatbelt PLEASE?!”
As I always do, this close to home, I answered “Sure thing!” and he proceeded to stand up, lean his head out the window, and said, “Look mama, I’m a puppy dog!” I slowed down and glanced over my shoulder to witness the precious view in this photo; mimicking real puppy dogs he’d seen driving down the road. He was panting like the real thing, laughing, and proceeded to send his two siblings into fits of giggles as well.
Often in the craziness of our work, grocery shopping, laundry, running to gymnastics and camps and birthday parties we never slow down for moments like this. This image makes me smile and reminds me of the sheer joy and silliness that kids experience. May you and your kids appreciate a similar reckless abandon of a hot summer day, a silly moment, and a laugh together like we did with our little “puppy.”
