Every once in a while I have the great fortune to meet someone to meet someone who is so utterly selfless that they give up much of their life for a cause that is much bigger than they are, simply because they care. Susan Groves is one of those people. I first met Susan when she was looking for help promoting her annual Pink Tie Gala in 2009, and we became fast friends. I was amazed at her energy, her ability to produce a HUGE crowd at an event for Komen Richmond each year, and now in 2010, her ability to move a the community of Richmond to add to it the Pink Tie Gala Bachelor Auction and a topped-out crowd of 400 to raise funds for breast cancer research. Did I mention she works year-round and gives countless hours of her time to this cause? No wonder she’s been featured in the Richmond news for her incredible work. She’s a single mom of one, a full-time employee of All American Insurers, a Richmond hero, and a female phenomenon I’m proud to know.
