Learn CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
Bystander CPR can increase the survival rate by 40%. While CPR does not restart the heart, it allows oxygenated blood to circulate and keep the brain alive until advanced care can be initiated.

Donate Blood regularly
If you are a healthy individual you can donate blood once every 6 weeks.  Giving blood is a quick and safe process that will help someone in need. As the American Red Cross states, “the need is constant and the gratification is instant.”

Sign up to be an Organ Donor
Over 110,000 people are waiting for an organ, 18 people will die each day waiting for an organ. Donate the gift of life by going to www.organdonor.gov to learn more.

Learn your blood type
Everyone should know their blood type in case you are ever in need of blood. Just ask your doctor or donate blood! They will be able to tell you.

Check your smoke detector
You can also help someone who is unable to check their own – perhaps an elderly neighbor or your parents. Did you know that the life expectancy of a smoke detector is generally 10 years? When what the last time you changed your smoke detector?
